Won't happen, but WC needs to divide the Gooker if this is what they want. One for kayfabe and one for real life. Only thing is we have other sets of wrestling awards if we want to vote on the scummiest/worst business move.

Damn, NXT 2.0 has almost as many votes as everything else combined so far.

Surprised to see no Nikki ASH. It was between that or Alexa for me.

If the results hold, I will never feel such strong discontent with a gooker winner. NXT 2.0 is not Wrestlecrap. IMO, this just reflects bitterness. NXT Black and Gold was broken. It wasn't the same as it was at it's height. Is 2.0 as a good as pre-pandemic, especially 2014-2018 Black and Gold? Of course not. But I can't blame WWE for going in a new direction especially when more and more call ups were proving not to be great fits for the main roster. And nothing about 2.0 seems inherently crappy. Just different. For what it's worth, I voted for the movie tie ins. That's more in the spirit of Wrestlecrap, although I wouldn't complain if the mass firings won. Pretty much this I said before but NXT pretty much lost all momentum very quickly once they moved to USA and had been a very stale product due to rushing through things to try to beat Dynamite in the ratings

I voted Queens Crown, something that could have been good turned into a joke(mainly due to how short the matches were).

so voting is done, I can't see the results because of the issues others have had with voting
it's either mass firings or NXT 2.0 - maybe they split it this year?

I'll never understand how this wasn't the Fiend being over like crazy, then built up to get repeatedly squashed, burned alive, and punked out and squashed so thoroughly again on his return. All that to have his gimmick given to Alexa Bliss and made worse, only to fail so badly that she had to be taken off TV to recover.

Only thing is we have other sets of wrestling awards if we want to vote on the scummiest/worst business move. Reminds me of when the Apter Mag Inside Wrestling had its "Turnbuckle Turkeys" award. At first it was for kayfabe heel stuff, but it eventually started bringing up real life stuff like Cornette threatening Russo, or Don Harris having SS tattoos, or Vince's scummy business practices (this is BEFORE the mass firings and the Saudi deal), which was kind of jarring for a magazine that was ostensibly kayfabe.

If the voting's over, NXT 2.0 won and it wasn't even close. It had an outright majority of votes; around 50.4% of votes (rounded down on the results page to 50%).
Mass firings were a distant second at 23%, and the WWE movie tie-ins were third at 11%. Next highest after that were Alexa, Lily, and the Fiend followed by AEW's Lack of Boom (both at 5%, but Alexa received 6 more votes).

I respect the Mr. Reynolds, but the Gookers miss a ton of things that should be nominated every year while throwing in at least one or two WTF nominations. chazraps did a great job of pointing out the shortcomings of 2021’s nominations. RD is in an odd spot. I always got the impression that his wrestling nerdom reached its peak in the pre-Internet days. By the time he started WrestleCrap he was obviously still a huge fan, but life, family, his career, etc all happened. With the site being a surprise hit from early on, he’s had to manage it as his fandom has continued to wain over the years. I was going to say it’s like if Maddox started a channel to entertain YouTubers. But he apparently has. You can see for yourself how well that’s doing.

So even removing that the 'nothing ongoing can be nominated' rule is one that they set themselves but now ignore, they also clearly no longer even consider whether a fun article can come out of it.
This is meant to be a funny website. Numerous Gookers have ended up being very brief, bummer articles. Is the Gooker not the 'main event' of their site each year?
What hilarity would have ensued from the mass firings article, exactly?

And it’s like, OK, they bring it on themselves by not trying to improve the on-screen stuff and scummy business decisions and all that, but it’s getting to the point of… You know, do people ENJOY being miserable? Is it easier for them to complain about WWE than find a better wrestling show? I swear it feels like if every person I read complaining about WWE actually watched AEW, they’d be ahead of WWE by a million people each week. Go find wrestling that makes you happy.

AEW may have some questionable booking decisions (Orange Cassidy being too stupid to wear a cup against Adam Cole every time they're in the same segment), but at least it's not throughout the entire show like with WWE.

well... on the high side it looks like Alexa and Lily are still a thing, for some reason, so it'll get a proper induction at some point
hell, it might even be on the ballot next year

If I wanna see smarks vent, I'll go...like everywhere wrestling fans post.
I hope 2.0 improves and this looks silly in retrospect.

It's the wrestling I grew up with. Cause honestly I can't stand the sniping that goes on between fans these days. Plus it's just not the same, no matter how "fresh" AEW and others are. I mean, I have guys I like now and I am not a total snob like a certain ex-manager that must not be named. But..yeah! As for hate watching....you must be new. It's been happening even back in the Usenet days. I remember posts by RSPW people who went to WCWSN tapings and Grey Pierson era Global just to mock it.

I fully agree that Hate Watching is a habit I wish more people would break away from, but couldn’t that same logic be applied to the Gooker award as well? Like, for all the people complaining about how bad the Gooker has gotten, how stupid the nominees are, how the voters aren’t voting right, how RD has forgotten what the award was supposed to be, etc (and let’s keep in mind these complaints have been going on for years now)… wouldn’t it save them a lot of unnecessary irritation to just forget about the Gooker and find some other wresting outlet with their own end-of-the-year worst of pro wrestling traditions that they might actually agree with and enjoy? It’s not like there aren’t plenty to choose from, after all.

I still haven't forgiven WC for inducting the Blindfold match at WrestleMania 7.
