I did a bit of a double take here, because the original version of this lasted for six and a bit series. Although the American remake only had seven fewer episodes, apparently. American TV seasons vs British ones. The American lasted 2 years. The first year had Rob Schneider and another guy who had a girlfriend played by Justine Bateman. They decided for the second year that they needed 2 single guys so they replaced other guy with a fresh off The State Ken Marino. Didnt save it. You mentioning Ken Marino reminded me of another sitcom he starred in called "Marry Me". He and fellow sketch-comedy-variety-show-alum Casey Wilson played an engaged couple, and they had 3 other friends. It aired for one season and has since been completely forgotten by everyone. It wasn't terrible or anything like that, it was merely classified as obsolete and faded away.

I am a Ken Marino fan but not to the extent I have to watch everything he does. But I have since become a Casey Wilson fan thanks to her Comedy Bang Bang stuff. Around that time was A to Z. It starred Ben Feldman (Superstore) and Cristin Milioti (How I Met Your Mother). Didnt last long.

The FRIENDS Spinoff "Joey" did not last long... presumably when everyone realized revolving an entire show around Joey from FRIENDS with a bunch of new characters was not an idea that would stick... and they were very right! Lol
Also The Golden Palace. The Golden Girls Spinoff was also a short lived spinoff series. Trying to replicate that magic in a very odd way and without Bea Arthur outside of a special guest appearance was... also not a great idea.
Two big examples of the classics are classics for a reason and almost nobody remembers these two

Golden Palace had a young Don Cheadle. After it failed they added Sophia to Golden Girls spinoff Empty Nest.

You'd think it would be a perfect fit for filler on some fly-by-night streaming service or some cable channel that you'd never expect to air sitcoms.

LAFF had all kinds of stuff you never see anymore. Makes me miss my antenna. I enjoyed Empty Nest more than I should have as a young teen. Nurses too but after they added David Raske.

Joey lasted a while, 3 seasons at 48 produced episodes. They never figured out how to write Joey the character and show. Maybe try to make it more ensemble like Friends with the characters having their own stories. Basically like Frasier.
Fall 2014, there were a couple of attempts at a romcom sitcom. The mentioned Marry Me and A to Z, also ABC had their own called Manhattan Love Story.
Anyone else remember Mixology on ABC?

Sledge Hammer with David Rasche as a police detective. I thought it was funny but no way would they show that today.

Thea: Starring actress/comedian Thea Vidal (Whom some of you may remember as Shelton Benjamin's Mama) which ran for one season on ABC back in 93.
