For me nothing comes close to '91-'92 as Sid Justice. He had an intensity that was unmatched on the roster. He looked like an absolute indestructible beast. The vertical leap from the floor to the ring apron. Scary promos. His in-ring work seemed to be at its peak. I remember being surprised just how awkward and clumsy he looked in subsequent runs, because as Sid Justice everything he did looked like it would kill you.
I've been curious if maybe he just seemed better back then because he was working slower pace with bigger guys, and had trouble adapting to the pace of the mid-late 90's, or if he sucked back then too and I just thought he was amazing because I was 12 years old. Even watching old footage, I still think he had something as Sid Justice that he never quite recaptured as Sid Vicious or Sycho Sid.

His 96-97 was classic. Not just the matches but also his "We're live, pal!" promo.

Scary as f***. I also preferred "Sid Justice" although I understand why they dropped Justice in 1995 - it sounds more babyface according to Bruce

What's my favorite Sid run?
All of them!
Or the other acceptable answer is:
Him rounding third and running towards home plate

From Survivor Series '96 to WrestleMania 13, Sid was fully in his element. Nutso on promos, a credible threat to everyone and capable of taking the belt at any opportunity. One of the best examples ever of a tweener done right. He represented the powderkeg feel of that period perfectly.

One of the best examples ever of a tweener done right. He represented the powderkeg feel of that period perfectly. His return in July until Mania 13 was probably one of the few, if not the only time that Sid put it completely together. He always had the charisma, but this run he had the character work down and his in-ring work was easily the best of his career.

I loved Sid Justice, but it was so short. He was the ref at Summerslam, then got injured, and then isn't seen again until the Royal Rumble and we're heading into the Hogan program. He barely had any matches on TV other than squashes. Maybe that's what made it so memorable.
When I think of Sid in the WWF, I think of his run in 1996 and 1997.

In some ways, his final WCW run was his most entertaining just in terms of how much he leaned into being ridiculous.

I loved Sid at that time but I remember getting annoyed af on that one particular Nitro where he came down to the ring for like 5 matches in a row and just powbombed everybody.

Post-Skyscrapers, pre-WWF run in WCW, when he just murdered jobbers and sent them packing on stretchers every week. I thought that was the coolest thing ever at the time.
Sid Justice is a miles better name than Sid Vicious or Psycho/Sycho Sid though.

As you can see by my avatar and my name it's definitely the Sid Justice 91-92 run. It was definitely a run of wasted potential and ended up amounting to a "what could've been" type deal but what we got was so great.
I really loved his initial face "good is not soft" character. Like yeah he's this big do gooder who comes to the rescue of damsels in distress like Miss Elizabeth ("All I can say is THANK GOD FOR SID JUSTICE"-Every babyface announcer on WWF television after recapping the Summerlam 91 wedding reception in September 1991) and Mike McGuirk but at the same time is also super intense and will completely destroy you in a heartbeat if you get out of line. He was basically like Hulk Hogan with an edge plus much more athletic and explosive in the ring. He wasn't a great wrestler but everything he did looked awesome. The flying tackle in the corner, the one hand chokesleam, the whirly twirl slam, the powerbomb. Made his squash matches a ton of fun. Making Big Bully Busick his complete b**ch and just utterly destroying when him and Wippleman were bullying Mike McGuirk stands out as a great one. He also had another fun squash against the Mountie at MSG right before he turned heel. Also his theme song was freaking great. Just the perfect bad ass babyface them that just screamed someone was going to their s**t wrecked.
It really sucks that he got injured and had to pulled out of Survivor Series 1991. That really would've been a good showcase for him and I think lost some momentum as a result. Then they turned him heel and while his heel run was fun I just didn't think it was a good use of him. He should've been the heir apparent to Hogan but him being kind of flaky in real life was probably going to prevent that from happening even if they stayed the course with him as face.
The thing with Sid though is almost every run he had was really good. Great in the Skyscrapers, great as the loose cannon muscle of the Horsemen in 90-91, great as Sid Justice in 91-92, great in his WCW 93 heel run, great in his 96-97 WWF World Champion run, great as the Millenium Man (which I think is his most underrated run. Him doing random run ins and beating up guys backstage and pinning them and having his own ref count the pin so he could catch up to Goldberg's record quicker was hilarious). Really the only weak run he had was his 95-96 heel run in WWF and even that while not great had it's moments.

Sid always came off as someone who tried to be a good guy, but at the end of the day, his mental instabilities won out.

I hadn't really thought about it, but they could have gotten a lot more mileage out of that. In the end, even if they'd gone that route, Sid is still gonna be Sid, but he was so over that it was a shame to turn him heel so fast just to match against Hogan at WM.

1989 Sid Vicious. He was so insanely over before he had the collapsed lung from the Steiners. He would hit a guy, get on his knee, and I would mark out like nuts. He could have beaten Flair, I would have accepted it.
When he came back and they put him in the Horsemen, it wasnt the same. He was too busy being serious.

I liked the quick thing they did with sid and the undertaker during the el diablo thing with jake. Sid and undertaker square off, and undertaker has been built up as this monster towering over everyone, and here's someone his own size staring back at him. I thought that would've made a good big man match during that time period.

I think that match, Hogan/Flair, and Savage/Jake were what they likely had planned for the big Mania matches in later 91. However with Hogan leaving after Mania and Sid wanting to go heel thus forcing them to turn Taker face muddled things where we ended up with all those combinations getting changed different matches.
