Mask mandate back in effect backstage. Here’s Meltzer’s report: Welp, guess this is the last time we'll see Sasha for awhile This would be the unwritten part of the policy change. They're likely only allowing fully-vaccinated members of the roster to tour. Anyone who hasn't vaccinated by this point is probably being sent home to wait it out. This announcement might also have spoiled the Universal title match for Day 1. If Roman is going to sit out this latest wave, I doubt seriously that he'll be holding the title while doing so.

Masks backstage doesn't mean a whole helluva lot when any time they're in the ring they'll be right up on each other the entire time. Not like it's an office gig where you can sit 6 feet apart or whatever True, but they spend 5-20 minutes out in the ring versus 8-10 hours backstage. The trouble with that is they are still in the ring going through the spots of said match beforehand so that’s likely another 10-30 minutes at best and that isn’t something you really should be doing.

They can wear masks if they’re just walking through spots and the cameras aren’t rolling.

I mean, if someone says they’re masked in the ring, I’ll backtrack but considering everything else, there’s no real reason to assume that right now besides hopeful assumptions.

Backstage doesn't count traveling the country where every state has wildly different rules and they'll be in contact with hundreds or thousands of people per week before they even get to an arena.
If there was an additional caveat of vaccination and maybe boosted that'd be one thing.

And just to be clear here my cowards comment isn't saying high risk people like Vince should be hanging around willy-nilly. Obviously he shouldn't, I'm not a f***ing monster. But WWE is seeing cases, rolling back testing and making the environment less safe, and wrestlers are supposed to just f***ing eat that risk but the top brass gets to duck out? That's horseshit. That's blatant. If you're willing to put everyone who works for you in the line of fire but remain safe in your bunker because you deserve to be looked after, you're a f***ing coward. People have said for years 'Vince won't ask anyone to do anything he wouldn't do himself' but he's sure as shit asking people to get COVD from the safety of his office. At least this time, he’s not abandoning them on the runway of a country they probably shouldn’t be in in the first place. So, it’s not the bottom rung of evil. Always look for the positive. How can they "look for the positives" if they said "no testing?"

Pretty sure they require vaccination or at least strongly encourage it since many of the talent wouldn’t be able to compete or travel certain places without it.

Well if there is a requirement cool. If it's just like weapons and only encouraged and allowed, that's no bueno.

Has anything come out saying they have vaccine protocols? Because outside of the alleged firings that only hinted at the reason being them not being vaccinated, nothing’s really come out about it.

Early on, Lawler posted about them having vaccination protocols related to mask-wearing, where once you were vaccinated, you no longer needed to follow the mask-wearing protocols. And obviously, there were the firings partly blamed on talent being unvaccinated, as well as some talent not being able to work certain places if they’re unvaccinated. There’s been no report about a strict vaccination “mandate”, that I’ve seen.

The other stuff is still just speculation, really, and anything else feels in the same vein as “Wyatt/Lee were difficult so we fired him” unless anything else is stated.

Seems like a really great idea to be changing how the testing works right at the same time both Raw and especially NXT were completely ravaged this week presumably by COVID but y'know, that's probably why they're doing it, so long as you can bury your head in the sand who cares I guess.

I have a ticket to next Tuesday’s show, so it’ll be interesting to see what we get. Assuming it goes on as planned, I’ll report back. WWE’s developmental talent possibly working the event? Aaah, it’ll be just like the old days when the company used its house shows to test out new gimmicks or wrestlers. Of course, they weren’t as well known as the future stars of today are. Coincidentally, NXT wrestlers appeared at a show I attended in December 2014. Tyler Breeze, Sasha Banks, and Charlotte Flair participated; remember that they weren’t officially on the main roster yet. As promised, here’s what happened a few hours ago on WWE’s holiday tour stop in Pittsburgh: Sarah Schreiber was the ring announcer and said that some superstars wouldn’t be there because of COVID. The faces took selfies and fist-bumped the ringside fans after their matches. No NXT talent appeared on the show. Quick match results: 1. Finn Balor pinned T-Bar. 2. Natalya pinned Nikki A.S.H. with her feet on the ropes, although there was no official announcement of her as the winner. 3. Rhea Ripley beat Natalya by submission. This match kinda came out of nowhere, starting a few minutes after the previous one. 4. Damian Priest pinned The Miz to retain the US Title. INTERMISSION 5. Rey & Dominik Mysterio beat Alpha Academy. 6. AJ Styles pinned Kevin Owens. 7. RK-Bro beat The Dirty Dawgz and The Street Profits in a triple-threat steel cage match to retain the titles. Gable had the line of the night for me personally when he referenced the Steel City’s very first Raw by saying “if they were gonna give the United States of America an enema, they’d stick the hose right here in Pittsburgh!” Bret Hart delivered that very line back in 1997, and I was there! Nice little throwback for me. Natalya and Miz both went for the cheap heat by dissing the Steelers.

I still find it weird they are back to holding house shows the same night as their TV shows. even before the pandemic I always found it odd they did have a Monday house show loop the same night as Raw. I can understand doing it tonight on NXT though...but I would have thought they would have wanted fans to watch their flagship show on TV.

Evem before the pandemic I always found it odd they did have a Monday house show loop the same night as Raw It's happened for a while, I went to a Smackdown House Show on a Monday back in 2004 (the night after Wrestlemania XX to be precise).

Can't let knowledge about the health and safety of your workers get in the way when there's money to be made.
Granted, this is far from just a WWE thing. But this is a WWE thread, sooooo.
