Now that I think about it, there's also Shotzi who doesn't really specify but from her twitter is definitely into women, and Dakota Kai via the most open of open secrets of who she's dating. Shotzi's referred to herself as bi on her instagram, for what it's worth.

Even if she asked for a release due to creative dissatisfaction, that still correlates to what I said in how the angles did nothing to help her and treated her like an absolute joke Obviously I wish the best for her, she's a great talent that they just... didn't seem to know what to do with at all. And considering they were putting her in 24/7 segments on live shows? I didn't have much hope for the future if she did stay She did that for one night. Otherwise, she's been in Smackdown Women's Title matches. In any event, hopefully she's OK, which is more important than talking about her creative. Yes, obviously I hope she's in the right headspace, just of all things that have happened lately, this came off as one of the least surprising... only really surprising in the sense WWE let her go I guess

If WWE outright cut her, then yeah. She asked for her release, and we don't know why yet. If it comes out she was dissatisfied with creative, so be it, but we don't know what's up. Even if she asked for a release due to creative dissatisfaction, that still correlates to what I said in how the angles did nothing to help her and treated her like an absolute joke Obviously I wish the best for her, she's a great talent that they just... didn't seem to know what to do with at all. I didn't have much hope for the future if she did stay She didn’t win the title but shes been featured pretty heavily and is working the house show loop with Charlotte and Sasha in triple threat title matches.

I'm just shocked they would grant the release when they're in the middle of a talent shortage with COVID right now. I said in the Toni thread that the biggest problem with that situation wasn't that she'd be dead forever, but that it solidified what WWE saw her as worth, and if they're happy to turn their key and let someone go when they're shorthanded then that only kinda doubles down on it.

Kind of surprising if it's true she asked for it. I mean the Charlotte feud wasn't great at all but it was still a title feud with one of their most pushed stars and they were booking her in title matches on house shows which were probably decent pay offs. Maybe she just realized they weren't going do much with her at the moment and wasn't interested in playing the long game for a top push that may or may not happen and decided it would be better to go to Impact or AEW. She's a top star almost instantly in Impact or AEW, she'd also help the increasing upper card depth of AEW if she went there, which is key for now having two major titles.

I'm not surprised. We don't know what's up with any of these people. Wrestlers ask for releases far more numerous times in companies than we know and are denied, we just don't hear about it. In this case according to reports, she asked to be released (when she was literally wrestling this week) and they granted it. The company let her go because in their eyes (given today's situation) it's easier to let her go. At the end of the day, most people think people ask for releases do to work reasons when the reality is there's other things at play they don't know about. It's just easier to blame it on work reasons because that's all they see on camera.

Yeah but when that is just her still being portrayed as a lucky loser? Maybe she just didn't want that in the prime of her career, but that of course is speculation and I will hold off on saying one thing or the other until we know more at this point But I still think everyone has every right to be pissed at her run, "She was featured a lot" doesn't mean shit when she is booked like shit for a vast majority of the feature, just like Liv on the opposite brand.

I mean, it’s hard to not look at how she’s overall been used and have her just realize it’s either not for her or she’s not satisfied with it overall. Like, sure, she’s doing the house show loop but that also doesn’t really say much about the direction they have for people.’
If it comes out as something else, I’ll concede but for someone as still young as she is seeing the wider world out there she could be a part of (Impact especially), I could see that being a reason.

How many LGBT people are even still in WWE as far as we know? All I can think of are Shayna and Doudrop. Sarray. Sonya. Dakota. All of them are openly bi/lesbian. Also Toni's wrestling career over the past couple of years has been kinda wild. - Comes in as a slot filler for the MYC 1, does fairly well, puts Kairi Sane over. - Goes back to STARDOM for a bit, and has what many consider to be the absolute worst red belt (their top title) reign of all time. - Gets signed to WWE, but not before kinda (by kinda, I mean uploaded a video to Twitter talking a ton of trash about how much she hated working there) taking shots at STARDOM and its fanbase for not liking her red belt run. - Wins the MYC 2, despite being the secondary pick. Tegan was originally supposed to win but then welp. - Wins the NXT UK Women's Championship and...is seen as the weakest champion of the belt's lineage. - Loses the NXT UK Women's Championship, and then comes over to NXT US to put on a pretty below average match with Rhea Ripley, and accidentally injures Io Shirai. - Shows back up on NXT UK, puts on some average at best matches with KLR and Piper Niven/Doudrop - Moves over to NXT US full time, randomly turns heel, her team wins War Games, but then she loses twice in a row to Io Shirai, with the second time being her tapping out to a transitional move. - Gets called up to the main roster and then...does nothing. Although this isn't her fault. - Gets fed to Charlotte. Also isn't her fault. Because no one gets over from working with Charlotte. Or is allowed to get over.

Toni Storm should be one of the biggest stars in wrestling. Not talking just female stars but one of the biggest stars, period. It's mind-boggling that you could be incompetent enough to screw her up but when they had her stand there and almost cry after getting pied in the face you knew it wasn't going to have a good ending. You don't make someone look like that much of a loser if you have big plans for them.

I'm going to try not to speculate too much, but the suddenness of this makes me feel like there's something more going on than just booking frustrations or whatever. I dunno, maybe we'll find out more in the coming days or weeks.

The one positive I can think of if she requested her release is that this isn't some ominous warning of another cut spree to come, since the mods locked the thread just a few days ago and the last time they did that... another cut spree happened

I said it in my post before this one, but Toni really did not do herself any favors with all of the heavy phoning it in she did early on in WWE, and also in other companies (STARDOM springs to mind).

A bit of a shame that she's gone, but with creative as stilted as it is, I don't think she was ever going to get a chance to shine.
When you consider the makeup of everyone who's gone, it's clear that Vince has a far different plan for WWE's future creatively from what Trips may have had in mind, and that all of Paul's picks are being released. The old guard is back in charge.
