Two big ratings stunts from that time, and not only did neither of them work, neither of them are around today in that form. RAW Underground’s main guy is stumbling about in an army uniform and the only thing of Retribution barely on TV right now is T-Bar being on Main Event, basically back to his normal self in all but name and facepaint only.

It says a lot about WWE's creative approach that they just kinda lobbed this out there on TV with no plan or point to it, to the point they aired a segment showing the Hurt Business 'taking over' and then next week there was no mention of it. What always struck me was that the set design for these segments actually looked really good; modern WWE is really bad at this side of production, but it looks like a sleazy after-hours fight club in a storage room. But then they filmed it like a reuglar Raw match anyway and it totally undercut anything cool about it visually.

It so hilarious. Funny part is that WWE had the roster for their pusedo shoot style. Ziggler looked pretty comfortable there.

Dolf looked like a bad ass during Raw Underground, kind of wish he would have transitioned part of that into the main show

In retrospect, Retribution’s introduction being announced by WWE.com press release was hilarious.

I love how barely even quarter assed this was. They hype up Raw Underground as a big thing and then it's just Shane kinda going "ohhh cool nice WHOA" as guys fight in the background for 90 seconds. No plot, no structure, no characters. It's embarrassing that WWE put it out there but also incredible that the biggest wrestling company in the world is also one of the laziest.

WWE didn't even need to do all that, just come in with a plan. Step 1, don't make it feel apart of the show. No smiling ass announcing, make it feel....well, RAW. If anything, let only Samoa Joe call it.

Step 2) After MVP takes it over, introduce structure & rules. ALL are welcomed to the Underground. You can brawl, you got an in. KO or Submission only with 3 ring outs. Money is always on the line. Ropes are used? No punches, just strikes, similar to ROH Pure Wrestling.

You know what? Props for them trying something somewhat different. But, as per usual, it was really poorly executed.

It's sad to think we'll probably never get a retrospective documentary on this era because I'd love to hear more about these things behind the scences.
