WWE adds new term to list of banned phrases

WWE is no longer using the “pay-per-view” term.

Last Saturday’s WWE Day 1 pay-per-view was billed as the inaugural WWE Premium Live Event. WWE began using “Premium Live Event” in their various website articles and tweets related to the event.

Now word from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter is that “pay-per-view” and “PPV” have been banned. This goes for commentary and elsewhere.

Well technically it's not a pay per view because you're not paying to view it as is part of a subscription service so the ppv term is incorrect.

It's terminology that does make sense but it's yet another example of WWE speak that makes the person using it sound like an alien.

Although technically the term isn't correct any more, this is dumb. If you say, "WWE has a pay-per-view on Sunday," the general public know what you mean.

If you say "WWE has a Premium Live event," not only do they not know, but it sounds like a glorified house show - i.e you have to be there in the building, live.
