Yeah, Pay Per View is an outdated term, but everyone still knows what it means, so it should continue on in the language.
It's like when people say "celebrity Scott Baio". It makes no f***ing sense, but everyone understands all the words and the context.

I don't mind this at all; seems like a necessary change. My only concern is how unnatural it'll sound if they say it in promos and whatnot.

Pay Per View is just synonymous with wrestling as a whole, while it's logical that it doesn't make sense, it just feels too sterile speak with what they replaced it with
Like even South Park mocked how stupid "Exclusive Event" sounded for Post-COVID

My only concern is how unnatural it'll sound if they say it in promos and whatnot. yeah, this is how i feel. grand scheme of things, this doesn't even make a top 10,000 list of stupid things wwe has done. they wanted to make the move away from the term "pay per view" when they moved to the network in 2014(need i remind y'all of jbl looking dead into the camera and say "if you pay $54 for this show this sunday, you're a f***ing idiot"). it'll sound awkward if you say "this sunday, at the premium live event". just say "this sunday, at royal rumble etc.".

"will Roman Reigns be able to knock off Seth Rollins in front of the WWE Universe at the next premium live event?"
this is a sentence that could actually happen

In fairness, since pay-per-view has probably been usurped by streaming, I get it. But "premium live event" is just terrible.

I wonder how long until Fired, Firing and Released join the list? Trying to stop talent from discussing the mass releases backstage or on social media sure feel like the sort of thing they'd do to combat low morale. People can't be unhappy about something if they're not allowed to speak of it.

Seeing how they're promoting Brock Lesnar v. Roman Reigns, Usos v. New Day and now Seth Rollins v. Roman Reigns, in 2022, I'm confused what makes these live events "premium?"

Makes sense. Pay Per View is an outdated term anyway.

Does this mean the weekly shows are "Live Event," and in some cases, just "Event?"

Premium:
A high value or a value in excess of that normally or usually expected, of exceptional quality or amount
I'm thinking the Premium in Premium Live Event refers only to the bloated ticket prices.

That's insane that there's gonna be a whole generation of WWE kids that don't think it's called Paper View the first time i heard that term was, ironically, paul e dangerously screaming WATCH THE PAPER VIEW WATCH THE PAPER VIEW on NWA programming ... hadn't a bloody clue what he was on about! I DID NOT KNOW WHAT IT REALLY WAS AT THAT TIME you jerks wonder if it's just to differentiate between WWE events and everyone elses events? or maybe copywritten exclusivity?
