Impact Wrestling Knockouts Tag Team Champions The IInspiration (Cassie Lee and Jessie McKay) were reportedly offered spots in the 2022 women’s Royal Rumble match, but turned down the offer, according to Fightful Select. The report cites that an Impact Wrestling source said that the company would have approved the deal with WWE, but The IInspiration did not want to go back to WWE at this time. Cassie Lee and Jessie McKay were released from WWE back in April 2021. Before their WWE release, they won the WWE Women’s Tag Team titles at WrestleMania 35 and held the titles for 120 days. www.wrestlinginc.com/news/2022/01/former-wwe-womens-tag-team-champions-turn-down-royal-rumble-offer/

"You fired us, but now you need bodies to fill the Rumble, because you fired us."
I hope they told Bruce or Johnny to eat shit.

As I said in the other thread, it must be so satisfying for them to come to you, cap in hand, after all they were put through because of being fired in a pandemic, to tell them "No" and for them to just have to take it.

They split them up for no reason, did everything they could so they would fail and never get over, squashed Billie Kay at any chance they could despite the fact she just KEPT getting over, then tossed them like trash only for them now to realize cutting hundreds of talent during the pandemic might have been a stupid idea.
Glad they told them to take their "Forbidden Door" and shove it, essentially.

I don't fault Mickie for doing it, since I get that there was probably a desire to go out on a positive note, unlike before. I can respect that.
If IInspiration didn't need/want such closure, though, then why bother? They don't need the gig, so better to pass on it.

Hopefully they both never go back to the E as they deserve so much more. WWE have only themselves to blame.

If someone has been fired by WWE and refuses to go back to help them out, then good for them.
If someone has been fired by WWE and goes back for a one-off payday, then good for them, too.
I don't blame the IIconics for turning down the WWE. The WWE treated them horribly, between splitting them and wasting them as singles competitors and then putting their visas at risk with their release.

After hearing all Billie went through after he release, I'm glad.

Would WWE have called them by their current names or would it have been back to Billie Kay and Peyton Royce the IIconics?
To me that would be even more insulting as it would seem to be saying that they had done nothing since being fired.

They would have just been fodder anyway. After how they were let go, I do not blame them.
Also WWE, you have women in NXT. Use them.

But its pretty telling that WWE is resorting to contacting former talent instead of pulling up women from NXT. If I were a woman in NXT right now, I would be seriously considering if its even worth signing a new deal with WWE once their contract time is coming up. Especially since it's blatantly apparent that the management doesn't see any value in them. Especially since they ARE using a couple of NXT men for the Rumble apparently.

I feel like they'd maybe use the names due to them having said Mickie was Impact women's champion, which is an overture many of us would not have expected them to make.

Did they mention this on a TV show or just on the internet? If they gave Mickie and Impact a plug on TV then I would say you are correct. If they never say this on TV then I say same old WWE.

They actually referred to her as Impact Knockouts Champion when announcing her for the Rumble on SmackDown. Mickie has said in interviews since that she’s gonna wear the Impact belt out to the ring fir the Rumble but I don’t know if WWE would let that happen.

I'm starting to get the feeling they only wanted those three so they could brag about what former WWE talent doing (look even our trash is better than the Indies!) then toss them to reinforce they mean nothing and the current roster is the best.
