Another comparison to 2018, after Heath Slater got beaten up for ages, he got his big moment where he dumped out Sheamus in seconds and got a massive pop so if he was eliminated, it wouldn’t hurt the match overall because it paid off a slow build. In 2015, Mizdow got a big pop and ran in, did nothing of note and then got dumped out. Which was added to the list by people like Ziggler who came in, did nothing of note and got dumped out. 2018 was such a well booked Rumble, everyone got a moment. 2016 always felt a bit like a lesson learned from 2015 though. Reigns starting off and fans not keen? Don't worry, he's AJ STYLES immediately. AJ eliminated, crowd a bit unhappy. Don't worry, here's Dean Ambrose and the returning SAMI ZAYN immediately. Wyatt Family eliminate Sami, crowd a bit unhappy? Don't worry, here's BROCK. Brock eliminated. OK, here's Dolph Ziggler, you guys still like him. Oh, and TRIPLE H. Need the fans to actually boo HHH winning? Have Ambrose as your final guy and tease him winning. Anytime something that would piss off the live crowd, they had a make do waiting in the wings. then stuff like Ambrose losing to HHH, well you had Roadblock which had HHH defend against Ambrose, so the Rumble seemed like it mattered in a way other than just HHH is the new champion.

Ambrose's entire 2016 was a bit like that. Brock f***ed him over? Here you go, WWE Champion Dean Ambrose. They never made as much of the fact that Ambrose goes 30 minutes in that Rumble after surviving a near 25 minute Last Man Standing match earlier in the night as they should have. That should have been made man level status.

Like, just look at what happened with him and Brock at that year’s WrestleMania and compare the matches Roman and Seth had to that. WWE didn’t structure a match that made both men coming out looking good, they basically threw Ambrose on the bus to keep Brock happy when it basically threw away the two+ months they did to build the guy up and make him credible.

May as well ask since right now it’s currently rated lower on Cagematch than the 2015 Rumble being mentioned here… Is the 2022 one actually worse, or is it just recency bias?
I’m inclined to say no, because even though it was a badly booked Rumble and people generally aren’t happy with Lesnar winning and what that represents, they never really lost the live crowd to the same extent they lost them in 2015 or 2014. That could be them fiddling with the audio, I can’t disprove it one way or the other, but I never got the sense that the crowd actively turned on the match because of the match.
That said, it challenges for the podium for sure.

This year was ok and inoffensive until like the last ten minutes with the Bad Bunny stuff and the lame Brock win after getting #30. 2015 the whole match stunk from start to finish. It's been said on here before but NOBDODY in that match was booked right. Just think about that. Out of thirty people not a single one benefitted from being in the match and came out of it better then before. The two people that came out of it looking the strongest were freaking Kane and Big Show the two guys in the entire match that it was least important for them to look good in that they were both super established made guys who had each been around 15-20 years and that nobody gave a crap about anymore mainly due to how much both of them had overstayed their welcome.

I’d say 2015 is worse, having not watched the 2022 one I’ll admit, because it started really well. A couple of nostalgia pops (albeit one involving Bubba being pretty overtly racist), a couple of feud confrontations, it didn’t feel special but it felt like it’d be at the very least fun. Then Bryan got eliminated and it was all downhill from there. 2022 is more of a “state of the roster” issue with the Rumble which, I mean, partially is booking and partially down to corporate greed.

I've cancelled the Network but still have it for a few days, so I'm going to rewatch the 2015 Rumble later just to remind myself of how horrible it was. I don't think 2022 is worse, mainly because it was just dull and lacking in star power. The 2015 Rumble seemed planned out to deliberately annoy as many fans as possible.

I don't know how votes are weighted but I'm guessing there's fewer diehards giving everything a good rating and more people than give everything a bad rating even if they didn't watch it.

In 2029 I doubt we'll be lamenting over this year like we are with 2015. Hell in 2029 we may still be talking about 2015 as the peak of the worst Rumbles of all time. 2015 was Vince being a cocky stubborn dickhead. 2022 was Vince being bland, lazy, and reaping the rewards of firing a shit ton of people, and not using the people you had properly. (or AT ALL in the case of Io, and Finn) It wasn't "f*** you" after "f*** you" to the fans like 2015, which is why I don't ever see it being topped.

2015 was a fiasco. 2022 was a failure.
Failures are the worst, because failures are just nothing. Fiascos are something.

2022 Rumble for me is not as bad as 2015 was. I mean Rollins/Reigns was fun as was Edge/Phoenix v Miz/Maryse with Lynch/Niven being decent too. Women's Rumble was ok but the finish just felt a bit rushed for me (might just be me on that though) and the mens, although it lacked surprises I thought was fine overall.

2015 was a disaster from start to finish.
2022 was a decent match with some weird decisions (Nakamura and AJ's lame exits for example) with a rubbish ending.
It's annoying right because we only get one Rumble PPV a year and now we have to wait 12 months for hope of a good one. But 2015 was miles worse. This was more 2013 level, and likely to become one of the more forgotten ones in years to come.

The 2015 Rumble match attempted to tell a story, albeit a bad one. "Local Men dump out all the heroes, but Roman overcomes the odds and wins" wasn't a story anyone wanted, but an attempt was at least made. 2022 didn't even have that much - it was just filler until Brock came in at the end and won.
As an overall event, 2015 had the kickass Brock/Cena/Rollins triple-threat, while 2022 had nothing even approaching that match's quality.
So yeah, 2022 was far, far worse IMO.

Is there a difference between bad and boring? 2015 was bad, but I could probably watch it again out of its context. It also gave me something to talk about. 2022 was just boring, and I can ever picture myself watching it again. If 2015 was an FU to the fans, 2022 was the result of boiling down the fanbase to it's most ardent supporters and not even pretending to care what anyone can find enjoyable.
