With the continuing separation of The Inner Circle (Sammy is solo, Hager is.... someplace) and tensions mounting between Jericho, Santana and Ortiz as seen did ng Beach Break, is this the start of Jericho wrapping up his in-ring career?
I've enjoyed Jericho throughout the years (except for his AEW commentary) but I don't think he'll be put back into the title scene once this thing with Kingston resolves.
He looks like he's like he's lost a few steps and really he's become just an entrance act with the sing-alongs.
Where does he go? Besides his podcast and cruise business?
I don't see a WWE return. Is AEW the last stop?

I think Jericho loves the business too much to fully walk away, but I definitely think he’s about ready to transition into a more part time role.
And that’s fine, I think he has a ton to offer as a manager or commentator (which is what I think they’re priming him for). I know people think he’s too spastic on commentary, but he’s a naturally funny guy with good timing. When he gets more experience I think he’ll be good.

I always felt that 2023-2024 was the period that I thought he'd hang up the boots personally so I can see it definitely being the beginning of the end for Jericho. Where he goes afterwards only he'd know I guess but he could focus more on Fozzy (if they're still a thing?), his podcast and cruise business.

No idea. I personally wish the guy would change his diet/physique a bit cause maybe he could regain whatever steps he’s missed in the ring that way but I guess he knows his body better than I do 🤷
No idea what he does character-wise. I get the feeling he’s going to stay in it for longer than people expect, so I don’t think this is the “beginning of the end”. At least probably not in his mind. I also would not rule out a WWE return down the line.

I cannot wait for them to split the Inner Circle. It has more than run its course.
Jericho has seemed like he is out of ideas and surprised me before. But this babyface Jericho ain't it.

I do agree that it’s time for the Inner Circle to split. I think they’ve overall been great and should be considered a legendary group for AEW early days, hell, we technically are still in AEW “early days”, but after the Pinnacle feud ended they really have gone stale. So I welcome this potential split that’s happening on TV.

I think Inner Circle should have amicable split, not every faction needs to turn on each other.

It seems like the first time that he's a face simply for being Chris Jericho and not because his character has any merits of its own.

I definitely think we are arriving at the point where he isn't a weekly wrestling attraction and becoming more part time, still having the odd PPV match for another year or so before a 'retirement' match.

I just hope he keeps doing commentary. He's awful at it, but it entertains me every week.

Could see AEW letting his contract expire and him returning to WWE for one more run.
He was important in the beginning to help establish credibility, but others can carry the torch now, and he's probably one of the most expensive guys on the roster.

Dude did his Job and helped put AEW in the map. If he goes into a part-time or backstage role tha tis perfectly acceptable

I really try to never be the guy who suggests someone stop doing something that they're passionate about, but in saying that..
I'd say that we got the last bit of the great out of Jericho in the inception of AEW. He's been going so hard for so long, it's only natural that it has taken its toll on him from a performance standpoint, even though I still think he is more than serviceable in the ring.
Obviously, he would totally be welcomed as a full time announcer, and I still maintain that once he's done, AEW should really form a very non-intrusive, but visible "Board of _____" or some type of "commission" including retired vets like himself, Arn, maybe Jerry Lynn, Malenko, Flair, etc to be Tony Khans hand picked authority (that never, ever becomes a heel authority faction). Tony is not intimidating enough to do it himself, and I've always hated the idea that the EVP's are active talent. It's such a conflict of interest.

Jericho is 51 years old. There aren't many that have been able to consistently perform at the level he has for as long as he has. There's no shame in hanging them up/becoming a special attraction like Sting at his age.
And maybe it's just me, but his commentary has been a lot more tolerable the last couple of weeks. He still goes a little too Jericho at times, but overall he's been better. I wouldn't mind him as a full-time commentator as long as he keeps reigning it in.

I would like him to challenge unsuccessfully for Sammy's TNT title. I think that'd be a good way to have him put over Sammy and part on friendly terms, and then just have Sammy focus on hanging with guys like Fuego, Marko, and Alan Angels.

Makes me wonder if somebody backstage had a word with him.

Sting, Arn and Taz all bring a lot to their charges without overshadowing them, Sting the biggest name of the three even wrestles regularly without overshadowing Darby. Is there anyone Jericho could do that to? Not Sammy, he needs to either go solo or associate with guys his own age. I think it would be difficult, even if Jericho was trying his best he would find it difficult not to be the main man of the partnership, its the nature of his character/personality. Then again even if it was just for a month or two he didn't do a bad job with Wade Barret.
Possible candidates: Pillman (could be a bit weird given they'd look a bit like father and son), Kiss (odd couple of educated, fashionable dancer and middle aged, loudmouthed soak), Nese (both made their names as cruiserweights). Could being a hype man for a woman or a tag team work?

It's possible, though I could also see it being a natural consequence of doing it consistently and just getting some practice getting his stuff in without being quite as obnoxious about it.

His feud with MJF was the perfect retirement story and it's kind of a bummer because now his actual send-off will pale in comparison. I do think he could swing it as a manager presence, right now with the Inner Circle it's all still very much been Active Star Chris Jericho's Posse and it's clear the creative steam for that idea was limited, but putting him with someone and having him actually take a step back could be helpful. Put him in a Christian role instead of as the main event leader of a group.
