Was the Flatliner a move before Mortis/Kanyon used it? I feel like it was, but that "Flatliner" as far as I know is specifically a Kanyon nod when others call it that. Gedo's Complete Shot is similar enough to me and I think predates it. Shelton Benjamin briefly used it as "The Overtimer".

Edge had the "Downward Spiral", but despite it staying his finisher in the games for years, I don't think he honestly stuck with it all that long in actuality, with the spear being his main finisher or tag moves with Christian.

"Complete Shot" is from the Complete Players unit in FMW that Gedo was a part of, and that didn't form until 2000.

My recollection is that the Flatliner and Nova's Novacaine showed up so closely together as to be indistinguishable.

Yeah, when he got his singles push in 2001 he started using the Impaler DDT. My buddy actually predicted his KotR win because of that move. “They finally gave Edge a finisher, I bet you he’s in line for a push. Watch him win King of the Ring next month. I’d bet on it”
