What are some songs that you like that have awful music videos? Styx's Too Much Time On My Hands qualifies:
Makes them look like some comedy/novelty band. While other artists were able to pull off these type of videos later, they at least had better budgets.

Metallica is my favorite band ever, but aside.from a couple standouts, most of their videos are terrible.

And this is my go-to for this sort of question. Sometimes too much new tech is too much.

Metallica is my favorite band ever, but aside.from a couple standouts, most of their videos are terrible. The same could be said for a lot of hard rock/metal bands from back in the day, mostly because the record labels wanted to make big cheesy EPIC music videos (even if it clashed with the band's image) because those were popular at the time. Although because of this it lead to the band Grim Reaper encouraging Mike Judge to poke fun at all of their videos on Beavis and Butt Head because the guys in the band also thought their music videography was pretty riff worthy.

Admittedly not so much bad as very basic, but compared to what MJ did later it's not exactly stand out.

IMO, I think Rock With You from a direction and choreography standpoint is pretty iconic. For a really bad Jackson video I’d nominate this:
This song goes hard, but MJ turned down appearing in this as he was mainly focused on his solo career (in fact, allegedly he had to be talked into going on the Victory Tour period because Tito would have taken the lead spot in his place and Michael didn’t think Tito could handle the job. Also they brought Don King on board to help promote it and MJ hated his guts).

My go-to answer for this kind of discussion.
I never liked this video dating as far back to when I was about 6 or 7. Why? Because of the boxing theme. If you listen to the lyrics, I get what they were going for, but it gets distracting when it gets to the boxing bits.
Then again, SWV didn't have the best track record when it came to music videos. I had heard that Coko (the main singer of the group) didn't like this song in particular. I like the song, but I don't like the video.

Maybe unpopular but I'm gonna say that most Eminem videos aren't great. Way too edgy if it's a serious rap, and extremely cringe if it's a comedic one. They've gotten a bit better though.

I didn't know up until pretty recently a video had been made for Just Lose It, and it's one of the cringiest goddamn things I've ever seen. Eminem really just did not care during that era.

I'm pretty sure Styx liked coming off as a comedy/novelty band.

Not going to post it as we’ve all seen it a hundred times but my answer to this is always Hello by Lionel Richie. Although I wouldn’t consider it great, it’s a perfectly pleasant ballad but it’s remembered for a terrible video and a clay head.
Seriously, whoever thought this video was a good idea?
“So he’s a Teacher. And he’s stalking one of the students. And she’s blind?” “Yep” “Go with it!”

Metallica is my favorite band ever, but aside.from a couple standouts, most of their videos are terrible. Whiskey in the Jar could've been incredible had they done something that went along with the lyrics of the Irish folk song they were covering. Instead it was just them trashing a house.
