I’ve recently started watching Old Nitro’s on the network and maybe I’m just feeling nostalgic but I’m really digging them. There are a lot of good matches - I’m loving the Ric Flair and Arn Anderson stuff.
Anyone have any favorite matches from the early years of Nitro ?

95 Nitros were really groundbreaking and set the bar for me in terms of what a wrestling show should be. 45 minutes completely packed and always left me excited for next week.
One of my favorite memories of the early Nitros was the short Macho Man/Scott Norton feud that just started out of nowhere. There was a sense that anything could happen.

You’d go from a Dungeon of Doom promo to goddamn Sabu in his prime. It was a bonkers time.

Was just watching parts of one on youtube. Alex Wright vs Sabu was damn fantastic. And Johnny B Bad vs DDP outstanding crisp match as well. WCW was really doing well here and I get the feeling with the crud WWF was putting out here...WCW was feeling good, optimistic, and thinking they could have a real shot at surpassing the competition.

I've been on a 1995 WCW kick for some reason and have been watching all the PPV's, Clashes, and Nitros and I'm really enjoying the early Nitro's too. At 45 minutes they fly by and the matches are real fast paced and fun and it never gets dull. I just got finished watching the fourth episode and there's a shockingly really good Sgt. Craig Pittman against Kurasawa match that I was really enjoying where they were just beating the hell out of each other and trading bombs for about five minutes. I'll also admit that Mongo on commentary is kind of a guilty pleasure of mine. Dude just always cracks me up.
I'm also really digging the main event face foursome of Hogan, Savage, Sting, and Luger. Awesome star power and I also like the dynamic between all of them with always paranoid Savage not trusting Luger, always naive and forgiving Sting trusting Luger, and then Hogan being kind of more on the fence. I also forgot how much Luger coming straight from the WWF was such a big part of his character in his first few months after he came back. Constant mentions of him being tired of playing with kids (his words not mine) and wanting to play with the big boys and the commentators mentioning him being in the "bush leagues". Even in the Fall Brawl intro which was very military themed with the face team in all in camo due to it being main evented with Wargames, the narrator goes "with Vader A.W.O.L the Hulkamaniacs have called upon a new recruit, Lex Luger, a specialist returning from behind enemy lines"; which made laugh and was a funny little inside remark that was again referencing him being in the WWF.

A one hour wrestling show in front of a hot crowd is hard to screw up. I definitely would've been a WCW guy if I grew up in that era.

Why they didn't go for Megapowers vs. Sting and Luger at least once, I don't know (probably Because WCW...)
I tended to like anything with the New Japan Three, as we called three of the future Radicalz at the time.

Luger gets a cheap pin over Savage behind Sting’s back. Or a Horsemen/DoD run-in, faces put aside their differences to fight back.

Pretty sure it ended with nWo shenanigans.

I really dig Savage's in-ring promos in front of a crowd from those '95 shows. Absolutely masterful.
