One night on the other show and I already feel his energy as a star. I know his run was kind of snake bit with the Covid shit but damn it could of been set up perfectly. Lee debuted and beat Orton on the same show Roman won the universal title to start his year plus long reign. He could of won the US title last year, lose it to priest or someone and then get drafted to Smackdown, win the rumble and dethrone him at mania

Keith Lee was never going to succeed in WWE, he doesn't fit Vince's body standard.

Keith Lee was never going to succeed in WWE, he doesn't fit Vince's body standard. It’s sad, because even though his character would be used better in AEW, they are already loaded with stars. In WWE he could of easily been a star in that Roman/Orton/Rollins level

Keith Lee was one of the most boring wrestlers on the main roster. I didn't care for him much in NXT either.

While I thought he was a fantastic wrestler, I never got the can’t miss babyface vibe a lot got. He always struck me as pretty damn smug, and would have rocked the hell out of a arrogant heel gimmick.

He's a great athlete and has good charisma but I agree with some folks saying that he just didn't have the top "Superstar" presence about him. Reminds me a lot of what Stone Cold and Becky just talked about on the latest Smoking Skull Sessions where John Cena talked to Becky early on before becoming the Man character. He asked her "who are you?" what makes you stand out. I think that's what Lee was missing, a gimmick or character that made him special. The only thing that makes him stand out is his appearance but he doesn't have a character. That doesn't really work in WWE, it could work out for him better in AEW where its just more wrestling focused.

Cant relate whatsoever that this guy doesn't have main event star quality to him that some peeps in here are trying to peddle, he screams star, and it feels like Vince sabotaged him at every turn to make sure that never was realized again.

It just tells how bad a job they did with Keith really,Vince made him look awful which in turn people start thinking maybe he was never that good in the first place.Keith is going to be a big star for AEW for years to come which I doubt Vince gives a crap about.

Had he not caught Covid, maybe.
But when he came back after his illness he looked puffed out and bigger than usual.
Great to see he seems to be recovered and able to go again and I can't wait to see what he can do, but it wasn't just bad booking that made him look bad in WWE, the Covid train hit him hard.

If there was any one person WWE should have given recovery time to, it was Lee. I don't know how rough he came back or anything, but clearly he was rushed in too soon from his COVID-related heart issues if he came back out of shape. Dude brought it tonight, it seems like WWE was a few months of gun-jumping ahead of just having the guy back in full form. And frankly, given the guys like Azeez who do get TV time, I can't even say him being diminished could've been why he was cut.

There's a laundry list of what-ifs in WWE. Some of it is unavoidable. You don't run the biggest wrestling company in the world and not miss out on certain people. Not everyone can be utilized to the best of their ability. Not every time you bring down your pickax are you going to strike gold.
That sure as shit doesn't mean they've been operating things in a really sloppy fashion, though. Keith would have been great to dethrone Roman, given their encounter at Survivor Series got a lot of intrigue from fans who otherwise hardly knew the guy. Any one wants to tell me otherwise, and I'd tell them they're out of their mind. Fans were interested. Vince stomped that to death and wiped his feet off on the carpet after, which is ironic considering the only reason they even had him in that role in the match was Vince's OWN interest, which hugely improved his lot in NXT soon after. A testament to Vince's mercurial interests, surely.
It isn't just him, granted. Cesaro, among others, also would have been good to at least be a road block to Roman, giving him a Luger vs Hogan-like win that would be short-lived. That'd have probably helped keep Roman fresh, but nope, they didn't want that, either. Instead, we have a reign that's long for the sake of length, and even with Roman being one of the most interesting champions that they've had in years, he peaked long ago, and it's getting boring again. It's disappointing.

Any doubts about Keith Lee getting over from the outset should have been wiped entirely last night.
That debut is how you sell a new talent. Give him a few weeks of that and then slap him up against another of the big guys as a special attraction, for now at least.

I feel like, for me personally, it's hard for me to not think he's got star potential considering some of the times I saw him when he came to Ireland and came off as the biggest dang star in the planet against someone like Minoru Suzuki. Like, I have eyes and ears.
If WWE can't make someone like that a star after going out of their way to signing him, that's a them issue, really.

At the rate Roman's title reign has been going, he still could be.

I loved his Survivor Series 2019 performance beating Seth Rollins and nearly pinning Roman Reigns, he could have been a major player provided he didn't get hit with lousy creative and Covid.
His brief Royal Rumble appearance against Brock Lesnar was pretty memorable as well as Brock made him look like a force to be reckoned with.

The moment Keith got that reaction he did against Lesnar at the Rumble they should have pulled him out of NXT regardless of what was going on at that point and gotten behind him on the main roster.
I agree with those that say he wasn't physically ready when he came back a few months ago, but hopefully, he's in better shape now.

Not a star?!!
The man oozes charisma and presence.
Is he smug, well, one could see it that way. But there's the notion of "the difference between arrogance and confidence".
He's confident. He knows how good he is. What a freak of an athlete he is. How he can talk, connect with the crowd, etc etc.
And when he goes heel in the future he will be goddam amazing at it, because all he has to do is switch from confidence to arrogance, and it'll be the same dude, just more of a condescending asshole.
He's literally a can't miss win-win prospect.

Dude has been over everyplace he’s wrestled except Raw. They had their moment when Brock asked who the big Mf-er was in the Rumble. Yes, he would have been a perfect choice to dethrone Reigns, but the company thinks they have a better plan.
