Of the two teams Otis has been a part of, which one do you prefer, Heavy Machinery or Alpha Academy? ?

Alpha Academy 100 times out of 100.
I have no idea how face Otis became this cult hero. Dude was the human embodiment of why it’s embarrassing to be a professional wrestling fan.

Bear in mind, when I say Heavy Machinery was the better team for him, I’m implicitly meaning the NXT version of the team.

Shorty is doing hell of a good job right now w/ Alpha Academy, but I've gotta go with Heavy Machinery - just 'cause Tucker's brotherly love!

I think it really comes down to whether you liked face or heel Otis better, and I still prefer him much more as a face. Heavy Machinery for me.

Alpha Academy.
Tucker was pretty much a non factor in Heavy Machinery. He was just Otis' quiet buddy who didn't do anything.
Gable actually has a personality.
Having said that, Otis was cringe to watch as a face. "Silent straight face" Otis looks like a damn serial killer.

I'm still salty that Heavy Machinery never won the SD tag titles. They were over.

I gotta go with Alpha Academy.
With Heavy Machinery, they firmly established right from the start that Tucker was always going to be "the other guy" and that nothing he would ever do or say mattered. Otis might as well have tagged with a mannequin with how little they cared about Tucky.
With Alpha Academy, however, there is give and take between Otis and Gable, and also I prefer heel Otis over face Otis.

It’s entirely possible that they were actually right to turn Otis away from the goofy schtick, once he and Mandy had their moment at Mania, there wasn’t a lot left in that story.

It's a testament to Otis that he got his goofy character over and has been able to shift to his current badass heel role. I think he's now perfectly cast as Gable's muscle. So, a vote for AA for me.

Leaps and bounds Alpha Academy. Yeah, it’s not even close. God bless Tucker but Gable trumps him in pretty much every way

Alpha. Gable has become relevant, and a co partner to Otis, whereas Tucker was just there.

It's hard to say because Alpha Academy has been great over the past month but that has also been like 10% of their total run. Before this, they were largely spinning their wheels, victims of 50/50 booking, and largely unentertaining because they were getting little to no mic time.

I love Goofy Face Otis and he was massively over with the crowd... Tucker was an also ran.
Haven't seen much of Alpha Academy but it sounds like both are getting their shine in so as a team probably Alpha Academy.
I think Otis's personal ceiling was higher with his Heavy Machinery schtick though.

All it's done is prove that Otis is an amazing pro wrestling talent. The dude just "gets it". He knows how to connect.

I don't think you were really paying attention to them much. Otis was the star of the team and clearly the one in the team that the office was a bigger fan of but both in the ring and on promos Tucker was the one pulling most of the weight. In their promos he wasn't quiet at all. He was presented as the more intelligent supportive "big brother" to Otis who would do most of the talking with Otis providing quick sound bites. In their matches he was always the one who would play face in peril and do most of the selling to set up the hot tag to Otis. I felt really bad for him because you could tell management didn't care about him at all and were all about Otis but I really thought Tucker was the glue of the team and his contributions were a big reason why Otis got over the way he did.

Yeah, Tucker did a lot of work and even in my also ran writes him off more than he deserves. But it was clear from the start Otis was going to be the breakout... but like they barely tried at all with Tucker. Also one of the big things that hyped Otis up more was Tucker being behind him the entire time... until they decided to systematically destroy all the things that got Otis over.

For a while there was this feeling of, "Are these guys ever going to do/win something important?" and Otis being a srs monster heel wasn't doing it for me. They're really good now, though.
