Damn, didn’t even know his contract was up, like. Now he can be in any promotion literally tomorrow if he wanted to. What's weird is that I heard he'd signed a new deal shortly before the Roman match last year. But now his deal's up? Either those reports were bullshit or it was a pretty short-term deal.

It's nuts there are like at least two times the dude got majorly, potential megastar over in WWE then they immediately booked him into oblivion.

The degree to which they kept doing this man dirty was atrocious. Heavily decorated tag guy, found chemistry with almost everyone, it was a great niche, but he absolutely had the fans ready for a more upwardly mobile guy and it just never happened. The Heyman stuff was completely unacceptable.

Know what though I respect his decision to walk and not show up to work on February 25th, 2022. Guy wants to play Elden Ring so bad that being booked for Smackdown was just a bridge too far.

Yeah, I mentioned it earlier that the owner of wrestlinginc.com tweeted about this and said it was a one year extension

With this, Cesaro ends a 10-year run in the territory, with a televised win/loss record of 262-329-13 according to my stats from the points rankings. His total number of televised matches (604) are the most for any talent scored within the timeframe of the rankings (2004-now) without winning a world title.

The Smackdown roster must be absolutely tiny now by the way. It's as bare bones as they've ever had.
And it's not like there's lots of options to call up from NXT these days either.

I don't care if AEW has 5000 people signed, f***ign sign Cesaro. If you had a plan for the Ladder Match at Revolution to be 6 people, make it 7, put him in it, let him do his thing
I don't even need Claudio to come in and immediately win championships... I just want Claudio to f***ong get his due as a performer while he still can, so this is the best news I've heard in awhile
Might be time to see the Kings of Wrestling get one more big time run...

That's crazy. To me, he'd be one of the people with Dunne, Owens, Zayn, AJ and others that you'd do everything to keep because he's one of the best vets you have. I think New Day is absolutely out of there once their contract ends I'm honestly growing more and more to believing that's the case when I would have said you'd have been crazy a couple of years ago, especially after the Big E title reign because Christ. The weird way they have sort of been treated when they were pushing Big E and how his push turned out has def left a bad taste in their mouths Kofi had a pretty good reign with a shit ending. Big E reign never got out of first gear and he’s stuck behind the waiting blocks. Of course things could change but this is a thing where they feel like they have done everything they could and outside of them wanting to stay, I can see them taking their act across multiple places and obviously being very successful at it

F*** Dunn and everyone in WWE who thought this man's VOICE prevented him from becoming a top star.
Good for Claudio. He has it all and still has many years left in the tank. I hope he thrives for years.

There are so many dudes on the AEW roster that Claudio can fling literally across the arena and it has me frothing at the mouth tbh lmfao
New Japan would also be good, but he could probably work both

The combo of Roman's title run nuking everyone else's credibility, people getting released and people leaving on their own makes Smackdown feel like

It doesn't really matter Smackdown is the realm of the magical misery tour. They don't need any one but jobbers so Roman can get his endless heat.

Really, it is remarkable that an amazingly strong, genuinely tough (recall the tooth injury), technically skilled, and visually standout talent Cesaro never really got a sustained singles push. Put this guy in sunglasses and a suit, and he looks like a superstar even if you knew nothing about him. At the very least, he deserved a MITB win and cash in; if just to see what he could have done with it.
