So this pop up on the ole R and thought this was interesting and alot to mine as far as the ongoing comparisons go between what NXT was and what it is now and that mindset.

HHH: I want to make NXT as big and watched as Raw and Smackdown.
HBK: I want to keep using NXT for developing talent.
VINCE: I want more titties on NXT.

I mean, it explains most of Keith Lee's NXT run. HHH didn't see much in the guy until Vince basically booked him as a megastar at Survivor Series 2019 and then suddenly he was an NXT title contender.

That's really interesting, all the way back to his active in ring time HHH at least says he prefers to play things safe (see that Jeff Hardy/Freddie Prinze Jr. conversation) with the downside being "his guys" or himself being the only ones that matter. HBK's vision is probably a better fit for a developmental but it's wrapped in layers of "Yeah, it's like that" so it's hard to say how well it's been working so far.

Both are definetly suited for different visions...HBK's fits with developmental but not how you wanna run the main roster because this makes it sound like HBK just wants to keep the line moving and the vets wont matter to him because his focus is always on the next pile of new names coming through the door. HHH to me in his booking has always been to play the long game he has a set of people he will run with untill he is sure the next set he has picked can suitably (pun intended) takeover. So really it kind of comes down to patience vs lets keep the line moving is the difference between their booking. |

Triple H not wanting a black talent pushed? No way. I hadn't thought about that before, but yeah, outside of Sasha, I'm hard pressed to think of someone Triple H got behind on his own initiative that was black. Some of that can probably be attributed to the fact he typically hired big indie names, and a lot of indies weren't really having black wrestlers in high positions, but even there, Keith Lee was PWG champion, so that's not really an excuse. |

He also doesn't have the pressure of putting on a product meant to go head-to-head against another show. The hermit kingdom era of NXT had some big reasons behind it, and HBK doesn't have that slack room because the results they want out of him are way different. |

Personally I'm more for HBK's style but that's just me. I don't like the "hey guys let's wait a bit until a guy's really known by people" thing. If someone's dope and works then they can get over regardless if they're new.

And it is largely why I much prefer the black and gold era. yea there is of course the arguement to be made that HHH hung onto certain people too long and kind of created a log jam especially when it came Undisputed Era getting a little too long in the tooth post Keith Lee title reign. But like I said his booking was always the long game...he would have his bunch but and this was especially evident with the women he always was building the other women in the background and when the time came you could always see who was the preverbial next woman up but it was over a patiently (sometimea agrivatlingly so) long wait but you always kind of knew his plan it was simply a matter of when. And I felt like HBK is alot more comfortable when he can develop someone at his pace which is what HHH afforded him but right now he has no choice but to throw all the fish in the deep end and just see who doesn't drown before the call up. |

While I as a fan prefer Shawn's method, ultimately it's a business, so ideally wrestling would have a combination of both styles

Both styles can compliment each other, but I think HBk's works better as a vision for what NXT was originally meant to be (an in-house development league for WWE) as opposed to Triple H's vision (an in-house alternative to the main roster brands). Triple H's vision ended up being the much better product, but HBK's is better for WWE as a whole if there's a clear NXT to Raw and Smackdown pipeline.

Yeah, let’s be careful where we step with the implications about HHH. I’m not saying HHH goes here but we have to keep remembering that if we’re getting people like Ian Riccaboni here, we just need to be careful about who else might be here too.
