Looking for something to watch on this day? I revisited it this week and can confirm 'Maniac Cop' is a St Paddy's Day film. The climax absolutely requires New York's St Patrick's Day Parade, and prior to that the shamrock decorations follow throughout the film.
Just in case anybody needed a recommendation on Shudder for shamrocks and shenanigans. Or something to new to argue instead of whether or not 'Die Hard' was a Christmas movie.

Well, my sort-of tradition is The Hunt, because that was the last movie I saw in theaters before full lockdown two years ago and it was on St. Patrick's Day when I saw it. I also watched it last year on that day.
Although I watch this last night, I think The Great White Hype could also apply. The whole Irish theme for Peter Berg's character and his Irish-themed entrance for the climactic fight. Also, the fight supposedly took place on St. Patrick's Day.

Yes, but is Die Hard a St. Patrick's Day movie? It's all in the main character's last name.

You should immediately watch the sequel afterwards too. It's not a St. Patrick's Day movie, but it's superior.

You should watch ALIEN FROM L.A., since it stars Kathy Ireland.

Would "God Told Me To" count as a St. Patrick's Day movie? There's a major scene that happens during a parade... the scene with Andy Kaufman, those who have seen it know what I'm talking about.

While I fully agree with you that the sequel is far superior, watching the two back-to-back always f***s me up as, despite the sequel doing the cool thing where it takes place only an hour after the first movie ends, it's inexplicably Christmas time out of nowhere and the sudden unexplained time jump from March to December is really jarring. Maybe if I think of the Cop being truly finished off at the end of the first one, and then the second one takes place in an alternate universe where everything in the first one happened the week of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade. And yes, for those who haven't seen it, Maniac Cop 2 takes place in December and it's covered in Christmas decorations, officially making it a Die Hard movie.

Good to know that the sequel is superior! I disliked the original so much, that I didn't bother with the series as a whole.
Now what is the Easter movie? Is it "Maniac Cop 3"? Are they all Easter movies because the maniacal cop rises yet again?

The Fugitive takes place around St Paddy's Day. They literally filmed in the middle of the actual St Paddy’s Parade the Chicago puts on each year.
