Shame it isn’t Summerslam ☹️ But it’s still a good thing for uk fans. Wonder if they will close the stadium roof as we know how unpredictable our weather is. Summerslam Backlash?

WWE's entire company history suggests this weekend was specifically chosen for competitive reasons but if so, it's a stupid way of going about it since it will not effect AEW's ticket tales or buy rates in any meaningful way. And given that, just do a different weekend so your own event gets the buzz it deserves. First, this was announced in the fall and it in no way competes with All Out as it won't air at the same time even if it's on the same day. WWE shouldn't book their schedule around another company schedule.

A stone's throw away from London! Long as they use some of those phone booths and taxis we can all sit back and assume Wales is a suburb of London. I demand dragons & sheep on the ramp instead 😋

It's a complete swipe toward AEW and it's foolish to even suggest otherwise given their history of doing this. It's just being ignored because of the location of the show, IMO.

AEW hasn’t even put out a date for All Out. And, as pointed out, WWE choose this date back in the fall. Should WWE not schedule events until AEW reveals its dates for all its shows and schedule around them, lol? All Out is always on Labor Day weekend. Is it always on Saturday or always on Sunday?

In the famous words of Scott Hall (may he Rest In Peace), "I don't know why you would come back to this country anyway." Back from Insurrextion 20002. Watch them call up Subculture or other NXT UK guys for this and then release them right away

It's weird though because I would think it guarantees they don't really run much interference on which fans go where or potential sellouts, and it probably won't effect buyrates either given they're both very different in that regard
I know Khan wants to run an AEW UK Tour though, so I wonder if he does it before or soon after. It's just odd that WWE wants to run a PPV in Wales of all places, instead of just a normal tour.

Well it’s a big stadium that I don’t think has ever had wrestling in it, even when it was Cardiff arms park, and it’s got a retractable roof which in the UK and Ireland in September is a big plus. It’s also got amazing acoustics as anyone who’s heard wales fans singing prior to a six nations game will confirm.

I'm sure it'll draw big, I have no doubts about that, just thought it was interesting it was happening like this. I do hope it means we see more UK Tours for wrestling though, and more fluid travel for talent.

Remember when the first NXT UK show in Cardiff was not only the same time as New Japan’s show in London but also the same day as All In?

The acoustics are amazing in there, and I say that as someone that's only been there once, and it was only half full, and the roof was open. Much better acoustics than the other closed roof stadium I've been in (in Lille, and that was full, with the roof closed). Joe Calazaghe used to get 50,000 in there for boxing matches against scrubs that started at 4am local time. WWE will fill it, regardless of what time they run the show.

I can’t believe WWE would run a show the same year as All Out.

What’s the difference if one is in a different country on a different day and one is bought on PPV and the other streams for a cheap price? There’s no competition at all there except for maybe the few people that still buy WWE shows on PPV.

There’s no competition at all there except for maybe the few people that still buy WWE shows on PPV. I think it's just preferable to run a show where all of wrestling media and fandom is solely focused on your event. Running a huge stadium show in the UK for the first time in a long time is a big deal. I think you could argue it's a bigger deal than most shows they've done other than Mania. So assuming AEW puts on a strong card (hypothetically let's say it's something big like Punk vs. Omega), I would want both to get their time to shine. Having them on the same weekend just feels unnecessary. Do I think it will affect ticket sales? Not really. I do think it could affect the buzz of both shows to a degree which can have cascading impacts on live viewers for each show even with the time and day difference. People only have so much bandwidth in their life for wrestling.
