What are some tv shows that had time slots that you found odd (either on local syndication or national/cable). It was kind of odd how Home Improvement was aired at 9pm in its early seasons, since it was always more of a family show (9pm was usually reserved for dramas or "edgier" sitcoms).

Maybe they were worried Allen would get back on the coke.

Sometimes networks will air stuff to keep it away from other shows. Seinfeld and Home Improvement went head to head for a while. HI slaughtered Seinfeld. Seinfeld got after Cheers, then Cheers spot and killed.

I still find it odd that The Tonight Show (and the other late night talk shows that followed its cue) starts at 11:35PM, not 11:30. I know there were specific reasons for this back in the Johnny Carson era that involved local programming obligations and the news and whatever, but the fact that it's still a thing in 2022 is just weird.

Back in the Monday Night Wars, Raw would come on at like 8:57 or something like that.
I'm just going off memory.

Moreso, wouldn't Roseanne air at 8? Or am I remembering wrong?

Any of the cable channels that air toddler/kids' shows after midnight.

Any of the cable channels that air toddler/kids' shows after midnight. To be fair, some channels were pretty awesome at it in the day. Jetix UK had Power Rangers marathons.

For me, it's always been odd that TBS used to have everything start 5 minutes in (such as 6:05 for WCW back in the day IIRC).

Cartoon network loved putting syndicated shows on Saturdays at 6am.

CTV in Canada has had a few weird ones where they show completely uncensored cable shows at 9pm. The Soprano’s, Game of Thrones and The Osborne’s all got that treatment for at least one season. That’s the equivalent to showing them uncensored on CBS in prime time.

Reading a website devoted to Vehicle Voltron (been around for awhile), I am reminded that apparently there was a station in St. Louis that aired Voltron post-midnight on weekends. This is how the writer came to know about VV, as he tuned in one week expecting the Lion Force, but got Vehicle instead.
