I do have to say, that Danhausen talking last week on Rampage should've happened weeks earlier than it did. I love that Danhausen.

I’m sorry, but saying Tony Khan hates fun is absolutely the dumbest take I’ve ever heard on this site….maybe top 5.

Abadon should change her character to Abbidust and they could do a story where Danhausen wants to date her.

I don't want Dalton Castle in AEW because "AEW needs to have more fun in it"

I really think JR when he's in a mood contributes to a lot of the not fun kind of feeling. Because when he's pissy it really brings down a lot of the show and he doesn't even try to sell things on commentary.

The opinion obviously rubs me the wrong way, but you’re right. I didn’t mean to be mean about it. So I apologize.

I am completely fine with them not introducing bullshit to sell toys. They haven't hid that they're courting a different audience. WWE can have that stuff. Seriously I don’t know why the attitude exists that every company needs everything another company has there are plenty of places for wacky crap there’s a million alternatives support them if they sell what you like not everything has to cater something to you it’s like expecting Bloodsport to feature John Cena in full 2010 kid friendly mode next year. Well, I don’t want an alternative, I just want what I want. I’ll happily admit this is a selfish thread. 2010 Cena in Bloodsport would be dandy with me.

I don't want to turn this into another JR bashing thread, but his grouchy old man routine really doesn't help with some of the lighter and more fun segments/wrestlers. If he can't muster anything nice/neutral to say, then he should just bite his tongue and leave it to Excalibur and Tony. At the same time, Tony is excellent at criticizing things in a funny way. Every time MJF does anything, Tony cracks me up with how much he hates him.

I’ll say it again… Tony Khan hates fun. Well, he has the world's strangest way of showing it considering how fun AEW shows are.

It's kind of why I am ready for Taz to take over JR's role on commentary, he can be serious enough for the segments that need it, but at the same time has no problem selling the fun stuff.

They've got a few kid-friendly acts, but if we want more, bring back the Broken Hardys. I'd much rather have that than the nostalgia act, and they could do more weird B-movie nonsense and less dangerous highspots.

It sounds like you want AEW to be more like WWE.
Good news is - WWE already exists. AEW is supposed to be an alternative. It's a good thing that they cater to different audiences.

While I agree, both should be striving to obtain what the other has. WWE should absolutely cater and get back in the hardcore fans graces. And AEW should be trying to appeal and catch the masses. It only makes sense, respectively, for both companies.

My thoughts really is that they are an alternative. And they need to set themselves apart from what WWE does. Pro wrestling history with littered with promotions who wanted to be like WWE and they failed.
WCW/NWA is the biggest reason why they could be a great alternative but also ruin themselves by being too much like WWE. The times when they tried to be different from the WWF they were more successful business and creative wise than when they tried to copy what the WWF was doing, no matter when it was the cartoonishly characters of late 80s to early 90s, or the Crash TV era, they were a lot less successful. TNA is another great example.
AEW is the most fun show in wrestling. BUT I do not want them trying to be WWE. Because they try to copy what they do and the way they book, then it’s all over.
