I have just listened to an interesting story from Heidi Lee Morgan on a podcast that Heidi and Alundra Blayze were supposed to face Bull Nakako and Luna Vachon at the 1995 Royal Rumble, they had done photos and taped vignettes, they did a test House Show run in Nov 1994, however in December 1994 Heidi found out that she was pregnant and plans ended. (At the same time Nakano was suspended and in January 1995 Luna Vachon was sent to rehab and later released.
I had never heard that before. She even said she recieved her plane tickets to Tampa for the Rumble

Seems plausible enough. That whole mid 90s reboot of the women’s division in the WWF has so many scattered stories of abandoned plans and matches that were meant to happen on shows happening on other shows or not at all (Nakano v Blayze happening on RAW instead of WrestleMania XI).

I am wondering if that Nakano vs Blayze match is the same one on the Wham Bam Bodyslam tape? Also, the scattered abandoned plans seems to align with everything that was 1995.

Honestly the women's division revival was snake-bitten. It just seems like every time something set it back or plans got cancelled when they looked to improve it.

It really was cursed, many plans seemed to be cancelled but I guess it shows you he did have a vision for it, things just fell apart.
Leilani Kai says that they wanted Fabulous Moolah involved as the referee at Wrestlemania 10, Kai refused to do it and that’s why they advertised Debbie Combs. Kai agreed when they scrapped the Millay plan, Moolah appeared in the crowd instead
There was a scrapped segment following Wrestlemania 10 where Luna and Bam Bam confronted Bret Hart on The Heartbreak Hotel and Alundra Blayze came out, this never aired and they taped a solo Bret interview in its place
Ronda Singh was supposed to be Monster Ripper and feud with Nakako, which is why she debuted in ghd Ripper gear and had promo photos in that outfit, Nakano got fired and they changed it to Bertha Faye
The Aja Kong match at the 1996 Royal Rumble

I actually remember reading about that in one of my uncle's old Apter mags from circa April 1994. They didn't mention it not airing, though, so I always assumed it did show up on one of the syndicated programs.

Definitely snake bit, but I still wonder sometimes if women's wrestling in the US would have gone a different route if there'd been more luck, or if the WWF stayed the course. Of course, you could also say the same of other things, like if they hadn't screwed over Wendi Richter, etc.

I heard the Kai story before. Funny as going by Twitter she has fond memories of being a Moolah girl and posted pictures from the camp/her house. There was the Mania 4 issue, however.
In retrospect, of course Singh as Ripper would be better. I was legit scared when she came out after Blayze regained the title, like a bigger, badder Nakano or something. But...PSW and entertainment and all...

Well, huh. I never knew Nakano was suspended/released. I always just assumed her deal ran out or she got sick of the schedule or working the same person every night and went back to Japan.
Looks like it was two separate things -- a six-week suspension starting in December 1994 and then dropping the title and being let go in April 1995. Were both drug-related? Anyone know?
