Alex Wright never paid the dues, that's what is was. Duggan paid the dues before getting to WWF and becoming a star and Bagwell toiled in the lower card, mostly tag scene "paying the dues" before getting a part in NWO with former WWF stars. Within two months of his WCW debut, Alex Wright beat a guy who "paid the dues" with Killer Kowalski's training school (Jean Paul Levesque) and of course total loser jobber Paul Roma, who did pay the dues for years toiling in WWF's lower card. Alex, however, never paid those dues. So I doubt anyone wanted to lose to him or even support him. That's the "business" we support though. Hacksaw is known as a pretty great guy so it really disappoints me he did what he did to Alex. Alex Wright wasn't some untrained kid, he was a second gen talent and had been active in europe since 1991 when WCW found him, no doubt working matches for less money than the likes of Levesque or Roma had been paid by that point. Roma went straight out of wrestling school into the WWF at a time it was the home of the biggest stars in wrestling, he was in no position to decide who had and hadn't paid their dues given how he'd skipped straight over doing so himself. He and Duggan saw a chance to lash out at management with a guy who didn't have a lot of connections backstage who wasn't likely to shoot on them and they took it.

i always thought that brad was the best wrestler of the armstrong brothers but had like .00001% of road dogg's charisma That was the weird thing about Brad. I met him once, and the guy was funny an charismatic, just a natural storyteller. There’s also a shoot video of a Mid South reunion featuring Skandar Akbar, Dr. Death (post cancer surgery, so he didn’t really talk, but him being there brought out stories), maybe someone else, and Brad Armstrong. Brad was a hilarious and animated storyteller, probably the highlight of the interview. And it never once carried over in front of the camera on an actual wrestling show. WCW in 2000 actually tried to briefly repackage Brad and had him do a segment where he openly says he needs to be more colorful. The next week Brad came out with his new Russo approved gimmick “Buzzkill”, playing a lukewarm version of (what I think is supposed to be) his brother Road Dogg. He really just looked like a smaller broke ass Dude Love. "]

He and Duggan saw a chance to lash out at management with a guy who didn't have a lot of connections backstage who wasn't likely to shoot on them and they took it. He had been wrestling for eight years by 99. By then he had paid his dues and worked his way up from the undercard that Duggan shouldn't have minded facing him.

Tito Santana as El Matador.
The Iron Sheik as Colonel Mustafa.
Sylvain going from a French nationalist to Ambassador of Quebec, with a retread of Rick Martel in between.
Lex Luger as Made in the USA, if anything because they thought they could just create another Hulk Hogan out of thin air and it would be just as popular.
Speaking of tipoffs, The Ascension being a brooding gothic gimmick in NXT to a living “We have the Road Warriors at home” meme on the main roster.

Why I still wish we had the alt reality where thanks to some contracts changing and such, this is what stepped out of the helicopter on July 4, 1993 instead of Luger:

I knew Alex Wright's father was a wrestler but didn't know Alex worked since 1991. I would love to know the mindset of a guy like Duggan no selling for Alex. I still wonder if it was a "dues" thing since Alex came right into WCW and was a star. Duggan would have been there in late 1994. Has Duggan ever spoken about it?

Speaking of tipoffs, The Ascension being a brooding gothic gimmick in NXT to a living “We have the Road Warriors at home” meme on the main roster. Ugh, this. Why would you call up a tag team and immediately rip their balls off by having legends bury them without any comeuppance? ...I mean, we know why, but why would a coherent company do that?

He looked like a monster and I liked him as a kid. He was from France, so had to be legit. Hole In One Darsow ?This is bad repackaging, not awesome ones. I wonder if BJH knew he'd just be a midcarder and job a lot, so he didn't want to do so under his better known name. Then again that required him to think coherently, and well... For some reason.... I love all of Darsow's midcard gimmicks. LOL

I also wanna include Primo and Epico as The Shining Stars Neidhart as Who was supposed to be a jobber, as were all the other "jobber with a gimmick" guys from 1996 like TL Hopper, Freddie Joe Floyd, Goon, the Grimm Twins, and the jinx brothers (which is where my handle comes from, and they were actually the hardys under ridiculous masks).

Both Basham Brothers when they split them up in a Draft. Doug the Fashion Model, and Danny the... 13 year old Edgelord. Not tat the BASHMAN was ever going to really get over... but it was also happening at the SAME EXACT TIME that La Resistance broke up and Rob Conway became the CONMAN. That was the weird thing about Brad. I met him once, and the guy was funny an charismatic, just a natural storyteller. "] he was absolutely a rip off of Road Dogg... the theme was a half assed New Age Outlaws ripoff and he would talk about how it's me it's me that B-u double Z!
