They literally shoved Michael McGillicutty out there with a big money entrance and said f*** you this is Curtis now IIRC, didn't Johnny Ace tell Axel he had "earn" the name of Joe Henning? Wait are you kidding me? He had to earn the right to use HIS OWN NAME? This f***ing company

I think he was a wrestler's wrestler. Always seemed to be the one they'd get to help the part-timers get into ring shape, but from an entertainment point of view, his in-ring work was just there. He'll never have a bad match, but he'll never have a good match either. He's a space filler.
Charisma-wise, he's one of life's sidekicks. On his own, there's nothing. With Sandow, with Ryback, with the Social Outcasts, they always brought something out of him. The latter day Bobby Eaton.

You'll always be compared to your much better parent, why promote the fact that you're not nearly as good as your dad

Curtis Axel had weird hair. That's what kept him below main event status. "I wanna look like emperor Nero, but with shorter hair." That's not a wish any barber should fulfil. Curtis Axel had a weird haircut, b?

The only thing he ever contributed for me was the gif of him doing his weird "arms at my titties and then going out" pose that someone edited to have confetti popping out of his titties to the point that when I first saw it I laughed so hard I was hyperventilating.

Axel walked so Serpentico could run.

Combo of probably the wrong guy &them not really going all the way with it either.
Like he might not have worked regardless but they sure did him no favors.

Dude was in way over his head. Solid worker but no charisma or IT factor what so ever. I'm guessing Heyman probably liked him and wrongly thought he had big potential and asked to be paired with him.
I think his best stuff was the Rybaxel team and then the Axelmania stuff. He had a pretty funny self deprecating sense of humor and it really came to the forefront during those.

Putting him with Heyman meant that he was compared with the likes of Punk, Lesnar, Van Dam and Big Show. All of those guys stood out and there wasn't anyone quite like them. Poor Curtis though was bar code generic in comparision.

Remember when Bret said Michael McGillicutty should end Undertaker's WM streak?

The run featured one of my favorite triple threat finishes when he won the IC gold.

Hypothetically, basically anyone can be a main eventer with the right build
Curtis was absolutely not given the right build and it was a long shot anyway
Talk about talent not being inherited

The only time I ever found Axel entertaining was during the Axelmania stuff, really. I kinda dug the whole B-Team era a little bit too.
