It'll be a big loss. I agree it doesn't make sense as to why she's yet to be on RAW/SmackDown after dropping the belt to Gonzalez. Wish her luck wherever she goes assuming she does indeed leave.

Yeah this is an ugly look on WWE's part. Io was one of and still is one of the best wrestlers on the entire planet, and WWE didn't even give her one single shot at the main roster. They had Io Shirai and Kairi Hojo and did nothing with them, and they're doing the same with Sarray too.
Io's gonna get like, any booking she wants in Japan, but don't be shocked if AEW tries to sign her. Like Sasha, Io's an instant ace in that division
And hey, what was one of the only times NXT won a head to head main event in the Wednesday Night Wars by a wide margin? Oh that's right... it was when they booked Io Shirai vs Sasha Banks. That'd be some irony lol.

HHHunter being back might help things, but if she genuinely wants to go home, I dont think it matters what she is offered or if AEW come calling.
Vince is an old, out of touch (unless it's bad touch), moron and we all know it.
He just doesnt.
But the man makes money hand over fist, so he ain't going anywhere (unless they force him, and hope are the highest forever).

Like this is probably one of the ugliest moments in WWE history when it comes to mishandling talent. Io has been in NXT since 2017. Five years later and she's still stuck in NXT. Why? Because Vince and/or Bruce don't get her. And like I mentioned last page, losing Cole and Gargano is one thing, as they have plenty of highly talented other men they can use. But women like Io are incredibly rare, as she can pretty much do it all, but isn't getting the opportunity because upper management doesn't get her. I also think Tony would be an absolute moron of the highest caliber if he didn't even make an attempt to sign her, and give her an absolutely massive deal.

I don't doubt she misses her family but I would not be surprised like Mistery basically said if this was just a way for her to keep things at ease and get out because she realized she will never get anywhere than where she is in the company. AEW is going to come calling and they are going to give her everything including more than enough to go spend time in Japan something WWE is very likely not to do and that could and would be a huge sway to their favor in landing her IF all of this rings true.

Maybe, but if Io goes to AEW, someone else will get bumped out. Tony's booking is quickly turning in to TNA booking - namely he'll push the new flavour of the month until he gets bored, then revert to his favourite. So she may end up just as frustrated there. But we'll see. If she does go to AEW, at least I'd still be able to see her, so that'd be good for me.

Yea sadly someone has to get bumped off to make room for Io but the positive side to this is that with Io heading up the division she makes every single woman look better...she is as they say the rising tide that lifts all boats , she is not a detriment like say Britt Baker was in that it was an average at best worker being propped up beyond her abilties where as Io is not someone that needs to be propped up because her reputation speaks for itself. It would be like having access to an in his prime Tanahashi coming in yea someone has to get bumped off sadly but ...it is Tanahashi.

WWE is really speedrunning going from having the best women's roster in history to losing all of them lol. The division is crumbling and I can't see them having the will or ability to rebuild it. It's likely to be one of those situations where one or two leave and it starts a domino effect. Then Japanese stars are less likely to want to take the chance so the rest lose both the learning opportunity and variety in the division. The change in focus in NXT means those coming up will be from the same mould. Those less motivated by money will leave to seek those opportunities to face the best elsewhere. There'll still be a few great wrestlers at the top of the division and some coming through will be talented enough to do well despite the limitations of the system. But it'll be more like the days of Beth, Nattie and the Bella's than the horsewomen, Kari, Io, Asuka etc.

Sure, but what I'm saying is Tony wont see that, she'll get a push, then he'll have her job to Britt or Jade, because he also has his favourites. I don't think either of the two main American promotions can use her all that well as it stands. Which is awful.

I really don't think there is much else for her to do anyways. Main roster doesn't seem to be a fit for her imo.

Hopefully Io spending time with family includes helping out with her sister’s referee duties.

The fact that both Bianca and Ronda have cleared out their respective divisions is real bad, and they have no credible challengers at all, and likely won't for a long time (I don't think Rhea is beating Bianca at all). Meanwhile Io was stuck in NXT for 5 years, despite being only 32 right now, despite the fact that she could very easily be a huge threat to either woman with minimal effort. But Vince doesn't want her on the main roster because she doesn't speak 100% fluent English and he isn't attracted to her.

AEW presents ROH is just going to leave me asking why is X not on AEW. I dont think a major promoter can own 2 major promotions. It wont work.

Looking back on it, it's remarkable how much quality women's talent WWE has lost over the past 4-5 months. Toni Storm, Sasha Banks, Io Shirai, Dakota Kai, Mia Yim, and several other names as well. Meanwhile the main roster is in critical need of new women, and shows no signs of improving. And the NXT 2.0 women are far from main roster ready.
edit: I will also say that at least Io and Kairi got treated well in NXT, Sarray didn't even get that.

Sarray was pretty much banished to NXT UK. And the main roster women's divisions are absolutely in a bad spot right now. There's a huge falloff heel wise on Smackdown. The top heel is clearly supposed to be Charlotte but she's off still. Meanwhile the top heel in her place is...Natalya. Who has no real personality at all. This is why WWE cannot afford to lose any more women. Losing Io will pretty much be the final blow to whatever stability might remain for the division. Assuming she can be persuaded to stay, they need to offer her whatever the f*** she wants, including a major push and spotlight at Mania. Even if they called up Io as a face, it wouldn't take much to make her the top face on either brand, especially since Ronda has pretty much no charisma, and Bianca is starting to stall out as well.

big loss, but whatever makes her happy. Hopefully she'll have some matches in AEW.
I've been missing and will still miss her entrance music. That atleat an A tier theme.
