The are certain typical TV episodes that every show within their respective genre (sometimes all genres) feels the need to have. What are some you just can not bother with, or even hate?
One that bores me to tears, and that sci-fi in particular seems to feel the need to tell, is the John Carpenter's The Thing episode, with the whole cast stuck in a frozen wasteland, usually inside a research station. Always the episode to skip for me.

I usually watch all episodes, I find it random tho when the Christmas episode usually pops up when I am binging a show since I usually like consolidating all my Christmas themes stuff to December.

Mistaken for cheating.
If it's the girl, the guy needs to learn to be more trusting and not be paranoid.
If it's the guy, he needs to learn he has no right to even glance at another woman.

The goddamn musical episode. All musicals suck. All of em. Yes even that one. Came in to say this. It tanked American Housewife for me. One of the two worst Raising Hope eps too. The Ghosts thing was cute, but I fear people who want a whole episode of it for these reasons.

I don't totally hate them but sitcom flashback episodes
a lot of the jokes tend to be like look at their dress sense and hairstyle!

Doppelganger episodes, as much as I loved Xena she had a ton of doppelgangers which was so ridiculous even when it had silly episodes, and a British sitcom Bless this House with Sid James had one,and anyone who knows Sid James would find it so silly that he had an exact duplicate existing.

The misunderstanding. Arrow had a lot of these, especially one involving Felicity and his son he didn't even know about for a full week before she found out and got all pissy. If they actually sat down and talked like real people, it would have been nothing, but the show had to have its artificial drama. Hell, I was one of the few who liked Felicity and Oliver together and thought that stuff was ridiculous. Tanked the whole season for me almost.
Alternate timelines are another. It's always the same beats every time and it gets old very quickly.

They've already been mentioned but Christmas episodes and musical episodes.
I love Christmas. I love music. I usually have little interest when my favorite shows do those episodes though.

The misunderstanding that could've been easily avoided. That's a real annoying one to me.

Also agree with clip shows. Especially now if you watch an old show 2 or 3 eps a day going through it. Back then when the ep was new, probably ok since you were only getting eps once a week and clips may be of ones you haven't seen in a few years.

The disease flavor of 'a very special episode' where if it's a minor character, they die from supercancerAIDs and are never mentioned again. If it's about a major character, they turn out 100% fine and never mention the supercancerAIDS again.

Back then when the ep was new, probably ok since you were only getting eps once a week and clips may be of ones you haven't seen in a few years. Clip shows died out with syndication and the advent of the VCR. The only show I even know of, which isn't to say others don't do it, is Pawn Stars. Most of those Simpsons clip shows happened like 20 years ago, which gives you an idea. In the case of the Simpsons, it was a cost-cutting measure and they talked them down to 4 a year to a little over 4 total.

I hate the misunderstanding ESPECIALLY when it's something that could be solved with a simple conversation. Also agree with clip shows. In the case of the Simpsons, it was a cost-cutting measure and they talked them down to 4 a year to a little over 4 total. 6, the Simpsons had a total of 6 clip shows. (and they mostly lampooned the fact that it was a clipshow.) But yeah they really are a thing of the past especially with streaming and the like.
