also per SRS at this point Black is not able to go back to WWE He signed through 26 if they just let him go to WWE it makes their contracts toilet paper.

I hope Malakai gets his head right and feels better soon. I think he's a super talented cat.
Make Brody King and Julia Hart the King and Queen of the Black Throne while Buddy goes and tears it up elsewhere. Maybe Pac/Buddy for the Mid-Atlantic Championship? Would be killer.

He's dealt with injuries and mental issues the past year. Maybe once he's healed and recharged he'll return.
Brody will be fine as a wrecking ball killing people. Buddy will be alright as well, it's Julia who I'm worried about given so much was devoted to her in this angle.

Yeah Malakai needed the time and they gave it to him. Honestly its best for both parties.

Seems similar to a football deal where you can retire but the team may still have rights to you if you decide to return. Hopefully he finds happiness in whatever he pursues.

If it's longer than 90 days of a no-compete then that's BS. More importantly, though, hope he takes all the time he needs.

All the best to Malakai. I hope he gets the break and support he needs and that there's a good place on the card waiting for him if he decides he wants it later.

I mean if he’s unconditionally released then it wouldn’t matter as he wouldn’t be under contract anymore. I would have thought that the way that the WWE has operated for the last few years we would know that just about ALL wrestling contracts are about as rigid as toilet paper. That said, I’d imagine that he’ll agree to some kind of conditional release where he can’t wrestle for a televised promotion for X amount of time.

the Fightful Report says that AEW thinks the door is open in the future. So it sounds like what AEW wanted to do originally but granting him the release overall. Again most news writers won't talk about it cause it's personal but all sides seem to have an unwritten understanding that it's mental health related

That can work, perhaps have Julia and Brody go for the AAA mixed tag titles, they would become instant faces.

Hope he gets healthy and can return. HoB has been one of my favorite acts, just love their aesthetic and Black himself is insanely talented. Hope that if there is a no-compete it just applies to WWE. Barring him from wrestling anywhere at all would be bs.

He wouldn’t be barred from WWE for 4 years, would he? That would be pretty ridiculous.

I don't think Black is worried about wrestling else where at this time. I think he more worried about his mental health and physicals health to get it right. AEW giving him the time off. But protecting themselves which some hate it but thats the business. They agreed on the terms.

There’s precedence for this actually, Raven/WCW and Randy Couture/UFC immediately come to mind. Raven’s WCW release stipulated he couldn’t go to WWF until his WCW contract would’ve expired, and Randy Couture tried to “retire” from UFC and go fight Fedor and was in a legal battle for about a year and ended up returning to UFC. Brock, CM Punk and Alberto del Rio were all different because WWE tried to block them from basically doing any wrestling, MMA or even television. As long as there’s stipulations he can return to wrestling, just not WWE, within a reasonable amount of time then I’m pretty sure this would hold up

The fact that he tried that after Frank Shamrock and BJ Penn both juked the company with winkwinknudgenudge retirements is just like...god damn, you tried, friend.

I hope the guy takes all the time he needs to rest his back. If he was as close to calling it quits as was reported, then yeah, take this time and let things heal. Both physically and mentally.
When he does come back I kinda hope he goes back to WWE. TK doesn't really get how to push supernatural/spooky based characters. Malakai came in with an awesome bit of backstory and a kick-ass vignette he had filmed.
Other than the Cody feud he was just treading water (kind of a common occurrence for a lot of talent in a place that has a LOT of talent), and I wonder if Black's hesitancy to come to an agreement on that meeting he had was based in the fact he didn't trust the company to let him spread his wings creatively since he'd been stifled for a lot of his tenure there.
We'll see. I hope he returns in some capacity and is given the chance to show everyone the unique brand of storytelling that only he can bring to wrestling right now.
Might sound silly to some, but I think Black could fill that Undertaker sized hole in WWE pretty good right about now.

All reports indicate that Malakai had no issues with creative nor was he unhappy in AEW as a performer.
