All Ariel had to do was dress up like Twitter and Tony Khan wouldn't have been able to stop talking

Whoever this Helwani guy is, his follow-up rant telling people that you're a "liar" if you think AEW's product is better than WWE's really makes him seem a bit of a schmuck. Never mind that his former agent is some guy by the name of Nick Khan. And as has already been mentioned, Helwani did voice-over work for WWE just recently.

Idk, I don't think it's unreasonable for Ariel to want something from this interview that will get him clicks/interest on social media. And if Tony doesn't want to answer any of those questions (which is his right) there are plenty of avenues where he can promote his product.
I guess I understand why Helwani can be upset about it but also Tony can say whatever he wants.

This is such BS. It's his father in-law. He was there. He's tasked with changing the culture. There's plenty you can ask him and if you're a serious journalist, you shouldn't have a problem with this.

Okay, he actually did work for WWE? I respected him a lot for his MMA reporting, but I'm definitely putting him in with the Ryan Satin category when it comes to anything regarding wrestling.

yeah I didn't think the initial complaint by Ariel was that bad, but the fact that he went on more of a rant, got called out on it, and is having a temper tantrum on twitter isn't a good look

Cool Hand Ang should replace AEW Galaxy with AEW Freakazoids.

If he only didnt compare WWE and AEW then it wouldnt have been that bad but he did it and now he looks like JDfromNY level of bad.

And if you like WWE more hey cool. I think Smackdown has been great but still think Raw is a mess and I think AEW is hitting a stride since Grand Slam so it's all subjective.

Cool Hand Ang should replace AEW Galaxy with AEW Freakazoids. I think that’s what Nyla’s outfit was at the DC show.

I haven’t seen either the TK or HHH interviews but I think a lot of people forget what a shameless UFC shill Ariel was back when he first hit the scene. He was pretty much Dana’s media mouthpiece for a few years before losing his favor. Dude never had much credibility with me.

As a journalist, you have to make peace with the fact that your interviewee can't or won't answer your questions. It's frustrating but it's part of the job unfortunately. More than that, when you do keep banging on those can't/won't questions, you are undeniably doing so with an agenda. Which isn't inherently a bad thing. Sometimes journalists will hound politicians or people accused of wrongdoing, continuing to ask and push the subject to get something out of a desire to hold the person they're interviewing accountable. They'll keep asking, they'll respond to deflections by trying to pull the conversation back on top, do plenty of things. It's not a good or bad thing specifically, but what it definitely is, is a rhetorical exercise with a purpose and a point to it. You're either hunting down answers or you're framing the interview specifically to come across a certain way. Helwani has been in the business more than long enough to understand these things and to know how it comes off; this was all very intentional. This is such BS. It's his father in-law. He was there. He's tasked with changing the culture. There's plenty you can ask him and if you're a serious journalist, you shouldn't have a problem with this. The real substantive difference here is that when, pre-interview, Hunter/a WWE rep outlined what the topics they could/would not discuss were and brought up the Vince allegations as the big one, Helwani said "Got it, no problem." Because a lot of these interviews do get set up within certain boundaries, whether those boundaries get respected or not during an interview. Helwani just didn't give a shit with AEW's.

Even a scumbag like Raj Giri or a doofus like Louis Dangoor have been saying "what did Ariel expect? there's pending litigation" while really says a lot about how Ariel hasn't covered himself in glory here.

And now having disparaged Sasha Banks, the stans will bury him, in a shallow grave.

This is why I’m mad wrestling Twitter has infiltrated my timeline. This is like a perfect microcosm of why the internet sucks.
-Guy makes a legitimate comment -People yell at him -Guy doubles down and makes dumb comment -People yell at him about stupid things -People tell him logically why people are now yelling at him more -Guy continues digging -People are now yelling at him for his stupidity, flipping the whole thing to make the original guy an ass, mostly at his own hand. -A new group of people now defend the guy, kind of because they’re weird contrarian assholes, but mostly just want to shit on people they don’t like. -Guy blames people for reacting to an inflammatory thing he said.
- profit?
