I think retroactive removal of WTC is kind of silly, but I have no problem with it being edited out of movies like Spider-Man and Zoolander. Unless you're specifically setting a movie in the past, you want your movie to seem as current as possible. It'd be like releasing a Bond movie in 1993 where he fights the Soviets. Sure, most of it was written and filmed in 91/92, but the Soviet Union is gone, and now you'd look silly and outdated.
As for GTA, remember, San Andreas came out 4 years after 9/11, and you could fly planes in that. Although the case has been made, and it's correct, that planes are useless in GTA4, I suppose you could have an argument if San Andreas came out in 2000 or something.
Besides, who needed planes in San Andreas? If I wanted to go somewhere, I'd hop on a rice rocket and just drive in a straight line. Roads? Where I'm going, I don't need roads.

I think it's silly to remove the World Trade Center from movies and TV shows.
Fact is they were standing when those movies and TV shows were made, so I don't see what the problem is.

After 9/11 happened and the Spider-man trailer was pulled, they said it was only shot for the trailer and never intended to be in the movie.
However, that could have been BS.

The most laughable thing is that on the other hand, Uwe Boll is still allowed to make fun of 9/11, and on purpose. Explanation or link, please.

I always thought that teaser trailer came off as cheesy, actually.

I always thought that teaser trailer came off as cheesy, actually. Whats up with them all flying through the streets and having to turn all sharp around the buildings?

I don' t have the link anymore, but someone posted a link a few weeks ago to the trailer of Boll's newest movie that will be an adaptation of the videogame POSTAL, and you can see someone cleaning a building' s windows, and in the background is a plane, which starts to come closer and closer, and ultimately crashes into the said building... so yeah, having the Twin Towers in one shot of a movie needs censorship, but THIS is allowed . EDIT : Here' s a link : www.youtube.com/watch?v=BiB7n8XWfyY

There was a rumor. I guess its now a urban legend that a character was taken out of 'Grand Theft Auto III' because he gave you missions that involved terrorism:
From imdb:
Bill Fiore was cast in the role of Darkel, which made it into the pre release version. But for undisclosed reasons, the producers decided not to include him in the final version, which has become the subject of hot debate for fans. The most popular reasons for his absence include: Darkel was going to be a revolutionary street urchin who vowed to bring down the city's economy. Rumour has it, is that many of his missions were based on terrorism and even included an aeroplane explosion. Thus, due to the games releases proximity to the events of 9/11, he was promptly removed from the final version. The final and most popular reason, stems from the fact that Darkel was originally going to give out Rampage esque missions and even had his voice recoreded for this part. Rockstar games then decided that they would like to go back to the original system of giving out rampages as featured in Grand Theft Auto and Grand Theft Auto 2.

Huh ? I' m pretty positive GTA 3 got released BEFORE 9/11.

An episode of Pokemon was taken off air for a short time because a building gets destroyed in it. (The Tentacool one)
That one seemed unnecasary to me seeing as it wasn't the WTC, but they were just being careful.
Also, there's that Simpsons episode which was also one of the best ones imo.

Wow, I didn't even get all the way through that list before I think I may have set the world record for eye-rolling. Ridiculous, and I'm glad that those songs are all "un-banned" now.

After 9/11 they still showed the episode of the simpsons when homer had to go to nyc for his car being there and it showed the part with him running up and down the twin towers trying to find a bathroom that worked lol.

I know on 9/11 we had to Microsoft Flight Simulator because you could crash in the WTC in it. This was probably, like, 7 hours or so after it happened. They were pulled off the shelves.
That video posted a page back reminds of me of this picture of a guy standing on the deck of one of the tower's, smiling for the camera, totally oblivious to the airplane behind me about hit the building.
It's a photoshop.

Don't know if this has anything to do with it but when NBC showed "Back To the Future" after 9/11 (and they STILL air this version), they edited out the Libyan terrorist subplot. they don't even use the word "terrorist" cause apparently they don't wanna offend terrorists. So now it looks like Doc gets shot by some Middle Eastern guys cause they were cruising around in their VW van and saw a guy with Albert Einstein hair in an empty mall parking lot with a Delorean and decided to take him out.

That's somehow worse because it makes Middle Eastern people look like they are crazy and will shoot people for no reason.
