Anyone else think its real, REAL stupid how songs have been taken off stations, WTCs edited out of movies, or anything that like could REMIND someone out of 9/11 taken out of anything? Its so damn stupid, like they was taking the planes out of GTA 4. Why? For real, tell me how does flying a plane into a building effects ANYONE, anywhere? It dont. People just need to realize that nothing can change what happened, and nothings ever gonna make people forget, so quit ruining stuff for a stupid ass reason...

Well GTA IV Doesn't need planes since its limited to just one city this time. There will be helicopters in it, which is enough.

I just hope the Plane's landing G-Force is in GTA IV so you can reenact that scene in 'Pushing Tin' or 'Casino Royale'.

I saw Men in Black on TV yesterday.
World Trade Center was still in it though.

All this occured shortly after 9/11 for several months they even took one of my Top Simpson episodes off When 9/11 happened, I thought that Simpsons ep where Homer gets a ticket in new york would never see the light of day again. As for the question, I think it's done to not offend someone (as most things are these days). People are afraid that someone, somewhere, might be offended.

Yeesh. No one censors the Hindenburg, and that was a big tragedy.
In "Toxic Avenger 4," director Lloyd Kaufman purposely left the Twin Towers in the film. When it played in theaters, a single shot of the Towers got a big round of applause.
If people censor anything that may have remotely happened to anyone, there's gonna be no art left whatsoever.

WTC are still in the original Max Payne video game. You can see them perfectly on the final boss battle

I agree with all that. I mean, why would it often anyone to see the WTC ? Especially in movies that were made BEFORE 9/11 happened. The most laughable thing is that on the other hand, Uwe Boll is still allowed to make fun of 9/11, and on purpose ( and to crap our favorite games, but that' s another story ). Also, like ToyfareMark said, I believe the reason why GTA IV won' t have planes is more for a practical reason than because they' re afraid to offend someone ( like they ever gave a damn about being offensive ). The environnement will be much more urban and there will be much more buildings, so flying a plane would be a lot harder, especially if the controls were as crappy as in San Andreas . On the other hand, a helicopter takes off in a vertical motion and can land vertically, so you don' t have to bother finding a whole bunch of place to do that, and I believe they take less place, so they' d be easier to control if you want to slalom between buildings.

I remember when the first Spider-Man came out, there was some big to do about the towers in it. I think the final shot with him on the flagpole is actually where it originally was, but, I could be wrong

Spider-man had spun a web between the 2 towers. I'm not sure if it was in the movie or just in the trailer but they got rid of it.
You can still see the WTC at the beginning of the G.I. JOE movie.

Give it another couple years. Before you know it, Simpsons will be parodying 9/11 just as much as any previous incident. I'm sure it took several years for the sensitivity from the hindenburg crash, JFK assassination, etc. to die down.

I hate stuff like this. If it's old, let it be. If it's something new, as long as it's done tastefully, who honestly cares? 9/11 happened, that's gone and can never be changed. Editting movie scenes doesn't erase it. Why should they go so far out of their way to supress stuff like this. To save people from grief? They're going to grieve anyway. It was a tragedy. One that should be faced, not hidden from.

What's especially annoying is that although things that could potentially remind people of 9/11 (i.e. planes, buildings) are being taken out of movies and video games, politicians and talking heads never cease bringing up 9/11 to justify their agenda. One realm (videogames, movies) wants us to pretend the whole thing never happened, avoiding anything remotely to do with 9/11, while the other realm (that of politicians and/or demagogues) wants to constantly ram it down our throats.

Didn't they have to remove the opening credits scene of Futurama too?
That one I can somewhat understand.
