Drugs, and being a frequent target of bullying from the "locker room leaders". Maturity was also supposed to be an issue. Supposedly Rene was the reason they stopped hiring anyone under a certain age for awhile. The more I find out about the locker room culture at the time, the more I view stuff like that with scepticism, to be honest. It may be that he did lack maturity, of course, but I also wonder to what extent it was that a few bitter old men were upset that someone younger than them was getting a push without "paying their dues", and used things like his supposed maturity to justify their bullying, and it became an accepted truth that he was immature.
I might be wrong, of course, and I'm sure he was far from perfect, but I do wonder a bit. He wouldn't be the only one treated that way.

Very true. And very likely. But some things you hear about like borrowing Hollys rental car, getting a ticket, and never taking care of it or even telling Holly point to some maturity issues. Of course Hollys response showed us who the bigger baby was.

Monty Brown/Marcus Cor Van. He certainly didn’t do badly, but he never got to reach his full potential. He quit wrestling to take care of sibling's family, didn't he? Which, of course, is the right choice.

I would say Louie Spicolli is one as well...He was tight with the most influential people and groups in wrestling and although he didn't have a great look he was considered a hell of a mechanic in the ring.
His soma addiction derailed his career and ultimately his life. Outside of his addiction problems I have heard people rave about him whenever his name is brought up for nearly 30 years now it seems.
