Let's be honest: pro wrestling has a history of being seen as low brow by the mainstream public (for the most part). That being said, did you ever get the feeling watching pro wrestling that someone who go into it seemed to be too big to be there or it was beneath them? I am not counting the celebrates that showed up for guest appearances...but if you want to, go ahead.
The name that comes to my mind is Stacy Keibler. I'm not saying she is a bad person or wrong to join wrestling (quite the contrary), but looking back, I feel like she should have went straight to Hollywood instead of the ring because her post career got her more press than anything she ever did in wrestling (dating George Clooney, a few movie roles, etc...and before you ask, yes, I know she did Dancing With The Stars while still on a WWE contract. I still think that show helped her popularity more than her feud with...uhh...what's her face?...on Smackdown...or Raw...or whatever show she was on).
I should add Torrie Wilson to the list, too.

Stacy seemed to actually enjoy herself in wrestling, but yeah, I am not shocked she went into bigger things afterwards.
I'm sort of surprised Paul Wight didn't act even more than he already did, but I guess his size meant he tended to stuck in gimmicky roles. I don't think he's Laurence Olivier or anything, but he is more competent than he really needed to be for just about any of his roles.

With all due respect to Stacy, her post-WWE career amounts to about a dozen guest star appearances on half a dozen TV shows, and hosting a short-lived reality show on Lifetime. And that's with years of international TV exposure behind her to raise her profile.
Odds are, had she not gotten involves in wrestling and gone straight to Hollywood, she'd just be another unknown wannabe starlet who didn't make it.

She got a lot of her attention because she was dating Clooney as well. Torrie Wilson didn't do anything major beyond her wrestling days either as the OG post brought her up. She known for what she did as a wrestler and well dating A-Rod and ext. But she didn't become a huge movie star or anything. Hell Trish Stratus became more a post wrestling star than she has. With having a couple movies roles direct to DVD and doing seasons of Canada got talent TV show.

I don't know how true the reports are that Yokozuna was trying to make it to 850-900 pounds after leaving the WWF, but you could argue that being too big for pro wrestling was most of the reason he was released in the first place.

I literally thought this was going to be about Yoko at the end, Silo Sam, etc.
This made me think of a story about the McGuire Twins that I read somewhere. They were apparently going to be riding in the back of a truck. I don’t know if it was one of those old “put the attraction on the back of a flat bed truck and drive around “ promotional bits or what. Anyway, they were trying to figure out how to get the twins on/in the truck, and eventually someone set up a ramp. One of the twins tried to get a bit of a running start at the ramp and ended up falling to the ground, where he burst into tears. It was presented as something funny, but it made me sad reading it and it made me sad writing it. It just seems like a moment where every way that his size was negatively affecting his life hit him at once, probably along with the knowledge that if he lost that size, he would no longer be an attraction.

Not sure if this qualifies as 'too big' by OP's metric, but Billie Kay is so funny and has such tremendous timing that I'd actually say she's almost wasted in wrestling.

The only people I can think of who were in wrestling and then went on to do something bigger than wrestling, save for like Rock and Cena becoming mainstream stars who don't have a 'wrestlers doing a vanity tour' stigma to it, are mixed martial artists. And even then, that category consists of Brock and a bunch of Japanese guys. People rarely go into wrestling and then prove that wrestling was never where they were best.

I would say that Brock for as good as he is at pro wrestling, probably should have been an Olympic champion and if he had gone into the ufc at like 23 he would have likely been unstoppable.

I'm willing to bet that even now, Paul Wight could be cast in a crime drama or something where he's the main heavy for a crime boss, etc., but with actual characterization and lines. 7 foot tall dudes built like that who are "okay to good" on the acting and line delivery scale are decidedly rare.

Brock Lesnar, for 20 years WINNER! But he gets a pass from the usual guys who spout off about people not loving "the business" because he draws money, he's huge and could probably destroy them and he's the love of Vince's life. I doubt Brock cares anything about wrestling, the fans or most wrestlers he's worked with. He is simply there for the pay day. Stacy and Torrie may not have intended to be in wrestling but I do believe they had a certain respect for wrestling probably a lot more so than someone like Brock or the random celebrities WWE used. I know we've had caveats about using autograph signing experiences as basis for whose nice and not but in the early 2000s both women did a number of personal appearances in the Baltimore area and their friendliness towards fans was probably the best I've ever seen. They may have been paid but that didn't stop someone like Tazz or Spike Dudley from being totally miserable at WWF signings.

I doubt Brock cares anything about wrestling, the fans or most wrestlers he's worked with. He is simply there for the pay day. He's been pretty open about the fact that while he genuinely loves the wrestling part of pro wrestling, he doesn't like the constant travelling or the politicking. Which I can't blame him for, to be honest. That kind of schedule isn't for everybody, and dealing with some of the egos he had to deal with in the early stages of his career... well, if I got big enough to work the Brock Lesnar schedule, I would.

In my dad’s words, if Dwayne Johnson hadn’t gone into wrestling “he wouldn’t have been parking cars.” I could have seen him taking another crack a football, perhaps bodybuilding, or becoming a stuntman. He wasn’t going to starve without wrestling.

Of course it was, if he wasn't a wrestler, he wouldnt be who he is today. No way he gets into acting after NFL
