Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake as a hairdresser-slash-stripper. But Shawn Michaels would've never get to turn heel nowadays if there was no barbershop window for the cowardly Marty Jannetty to escape through.

Jake the Snake Roberts would have gotten hell today for dragging around an actual snake and throwing it on people, and that whole angle with Macho Man and Liz would probably have a certain section of audience upset

I feel like about the only way you could get away with any sort of a 'savage' gimmick (not to be confused with a "Savage" gimmick, OH YEAH) nowadays, would be to bill them from somewhere shamelessly tongue-in-cheek like... I dunno, the dangerous and uncharted golf courses of Hilton Head, South Carolina or something.

I think the Undertaker would struggle, especially in his original form. Undertaker is a weird one because the gimmick should never have worked in the first place. As you say his original form probably wouldn't be accepted but tweaked and booked well it would eventually be embraced by most. The early days of the Fiend perhaps being the best case study to show it could work. And it shows that maybe getting too far out wouldn't work. The overcompensation at Hell In A Cell, for instance, then a lot of his booking thereafter. Proves that a nigh invincible, supernatural monster may not be totally accepted.

I am 111% sure that if Vince was still in power, and given the same circumstances, he would still do the hillbilly family and Uncle Elmer's wedding next week if possible.

Long title reigns. Look at how some are losing patience with Roman? I love it... but I know I'm in the minority.

I can't imagine the gimmick of a Ugandan cannibal tribesman being played straight would work at all now. Kamala was the first thing I thought of, actually.

The Brian Pillman Gun angle probably wouldn't go over very well today.

Clearly defined heels and faces and long term storylines.
The fans have been conditioned to think that's obsolete.
A mindset which doesn't exist in any other form of media.

The Brian Pillman Gun angle probably wouldn't go over very well today. Granted, didn't go over great at the time. Wasn't the network furious?

Nazi gimmicks. Those guys were everywhere in the 50s and 60s Hell, Fritz Von Erich had a Nazi gimmick and he's still hailed as a legend nowadays. And then there's JR's and my dad's favorite name drop Killer Karl Kox. I mean, Fritz did the "I've changed my ways" gimmick and turned face in the 70s as he was winding down his career and getting the boys into the fray. But yeah, it was still part of his past, so you're probably right.

Evil foreigner heel vs. American hero
Look no further than the Cody Rhodes/Anthony Ogogo feud from last year to see how that went off the rails (and did a great deal of damage to Cody as a babyface in AEW).

Eh... you could probably still do a patriot style gimmick. The Cody/Ogogo failed more on content rather than the straight idea. I mean look how popular Captain America is. Just don't like respond to legitimate criticisms with talking about you solved racism by having a biracial daughter...

I mean look how popular Captain America is. The trick of Captain America is that he's usually standing up against the internal problems of the United States, though.
