Who are some wrestlers who turned face or heel in real life? Now obviously we don’t know these people personally, but from what we hear, how they act at interviews ect what would you say?
Biggest heel turn:
Chris Benoit CM Punk- went from revolutionizing pro wrestling to being outed as someone that only cares about himself/a diva
Biggest face turns:
Batista: was hated in 2007, but got a lot more fan support in recent years Seth Rollins: was a corporate kiss ass in 2019, now he talks shit when the opportunity is given and is more himself Randy Orton: went from immature brat in 06 to respected veteran

I don't get it. At all. It's kind of a small horse, I mean what am I missing? Am I crazy?

Orton is a great example that you can't always write someone off. He's grown and matured into a good guy.

Heel: Hulk Hogan's racist rant
Batista is a tough one, since his unwavering support of GOTG director James Gunn got him a lot of hate, but also gained some fans from it.

Cass seemed to be deep in a hole and past expert at pissing people off at the time of his WWE exit, but it seems like not drinking anymore did wonders for him physically and mentally.
For that matter Enzo seems to have rehabbed his image some.
Ric Flair seemed to generally be well regarded, then the Plane Ride from Hell episode aired. I think it was at least as much how he conducted himself afterward, but his name kinda seems to be mud now.

Kevin Nash went from IWC Enemy Number 1 and the face of selfish booking to a beloved elder statesman and one of the funniest guys in the business

HHH in the 2000s was the poster child for burials and IWC's most hated individual to being the benevolent head of creative to the point where some fans sent him a fruit basket after a particularly good NXT show.

Kane and Val Venis went from healthy skeptics of big government to supporting problematic conspiracy theories.

Face - The not-particularly-well-regarded Chris Masters saving his mother from a house fire in 2013.
Would heel Muta saving everyone, including his opponents and ringside staff, from a fire at Halloween Havoc 1989 count?

Buff Bagwell spent half his career teasing bogus face turns and then basically did that in real life with that social media idiot

outside of those mentioned and pretty much everyone in #SpeakingOut, i'd go Mike Quackenbush, Michael Elgin, and Jim "I Have an Opinion on That!" Cornette
also not a wrestler but connected to the wrestling business: heel turn - Dave Scherer of PWInsider. i don't watch or follow AEW so i don't have a dog in the fight, but the past several months his daily Q&A's have basically turned into a daily AEW bitchfit to the point where it seems he has a personal vendetta against AEW and especially Tony Khan.

HHH is prob the big one for me. I never liked him as a wrestler or an on-screen character, but I'm really rooting for him to do good things with WWE.

Batista is a tough one, since his unwavering support of GOTG director James Gunn got him a lot of hate, but also gained some fans from it. I mean, he was getting hate from real life heels for supporting his buddy's unjust treatment by a powerful media corporation. Doesn't get much more face-turny than that.

Not that he was ever a heel in his behavior or even reputation, but DDP got some criticism for overly planning his matches and getting his push due to his friendship with Bischoff.
These days he's universally praised for how YRG has helped so many people while his program pretty much saved Jake Roberts and gave Scott Hall a few good last few years before his passing.

Orton is a great example that you can't always write someone off. He's grown and matured into a good guy. Orton's Twitter feed alone is the greatest face turn in wrestling culture. He went from anti-BLM, anti-everythingworthwhile trashfire to actually admitting his views were dodgy and encourages others to question why they might be siding with shitty things from what I've seen.

For me its Shawn Michaels using his shitty primadonna habits for good and humiliating Hulk Hogan To this day I don't get how it was humiliating for Hogan. It was an awesome match, the crowd was fully behind Hogan, he won and then didn't have to job to Shawn in return. It seems like a win for him in every regard. Heels selling like they're being bounced around like a pinball had happened before. Look at heel Rock v Hogan at NWO 03, Austin at WM19 and especially v Goldberg at Backlash. They were almost comedy matches with the over-selling. Mr. Perfect did it all the time. Shawn himself did it too when he was a heel going against a powerhouse like a Taker or Sid or Diesel. I get it was jarring at the time because it was the first heel Shawn match in 7-8 years. People were used to veteran babyface HBK who was more methodical in the ring then suddenly for one night only it's like 90s heel HBK is back and he's going 100mph to prove he could still bump like a madman.

I mean it was basically Shawn pointing out that Hogan was an old man who couldn't go anymore and the entire idea of him winning a match anymore is ridiculous but I can see where you're coming from.

Stuff like Shawn going down for the big boot, waiting for Hogan to turn his back, then standing up to run in a circle and flop down again was clearly meant to make the whole match look like a ridiculous pantomime when WWE obviously wanted it to be a big, dramatic showdown between two icons. Hogan may profess not to care, but I think he was genuinely hoping to have a match that would impress the boys and the crowd against someone like HBK, and HBK basically told him "they can make me lose to you but they certainly can't make me like it" as hard as he could.
