Twitter 2.0 should have been more like NXT 2.0 and now look where they are I know it's risky to embed a tweet instead of screencaping because it could go at any time, but I am lazy.

Elon Musk is a cockrash.
He was a cockrash before he bought Twitter.
He’s a cockrash now.

I’ve never understood people’s problem with twitter. I’ve been on that bitch since February 2009. See all you have to do is…follow the people, sports teams, movies or sites you already like and it gives you this feed of information you curated yourself.
If you go on Twitter and see all assholes and idiots…it’s literally on you.

I’m surprised ol’ Musky cried about bots so much before making the purchase. Dude made a career out of building automated things that did all the work while idiots slept behind the wheel. To Musk it wasn't bots that were the problem, it was the people who disagreed with him. He wants to be worshiped as a savior. He wants to be Tony Stark, but the only thing he has in common with Tony Stark is being rich. He's a richer, more vindictive and petty Lance Armstrong. Twitter going away has some tremendous downsides: - it's a platform that anyone anywhere in the world can directly share what's going on around them. It's broken so many stories of injustice, revolution and major movements whose elevated awareness was able to be activated and made the world a better place. - there's a lot of differently abled individuals who find Twitter their main and in some cases only place they feel comfortable having communication and feel a connection to a community. - there's a record of 16 years of interactions, cataloging relationships, memorable moments, social landmarks and touchstone events that offers both personal sentimentality and nostalgia as well as, hypothetically years from now, an invaluable catalog of real time reactions to major events. - @dril - wrestling-wise it did so much for the indys both for promotions and performers to easily spread the word about their events and talent - not to mention how #SpeakingOut largely was able to have a movement because of Twitter Elon Musk sucks and is dumb. Terrible person, sub-human scum and it's troubling how quick an impulsive billionaire can permanently derail a worldwide hub of communication. Also, that's a lot of people who now need jobs because Musk is running Twitter into the ground at a record pace.

I'll give it this, "Some dipshit who got everything he's ever owned due to slavery is able to drive one of the biggest websites in the world into the ground in the span of mere weeks entirely because he has too much money," is a masterclass in demonstrating why billionaires shouldn't exist.

Twitter going away has some tremendous downsides:</snip> It's also one of the few platforms where sex workers are still (mostly) welcome. While they don't make their money directly from Twitter, it's an almost essential marketing tool.

*prepares mourning garb* Is there really a down side to Twitter dying? Gives me more free time to torment the rest of the internet.

Here's Norm Macdonald talking about Twitter on Letterman in 2011 and really, if there's going to be one record of the best, worst and middle of Twitter, this is it.
Starts at 2:13, then he talks about YouTube and then when they come back more on Twitter -

Is there really a down side to Twitter dying? Twitter is very important for independent artists to get their name out there. It's an important tool for independent wrestlers to get their names out there. It's one of the few platforms that sex workers can advertise on.

Eh, it used to be that way, but even Pre-Musk it had changed for the worse, shutting down routes for people to enjoy the platform without algorithm and ad driven BS. There used to be a huge ecosystem of clients, mobile sites that worked without jumping through hoops to avoid a million ads, but that went away to funnel people towards more monetizable versions of the service. I noticed too, despite being LGBTQ+ the algorithm would continually bombard me with TERF trending topics and articles from right wing tabloids and websites, despite my blocking the accounts tweeting the links. 90% of my activity on the site were replies to friends and talking 80s pop music, but that didn't spare me being targeted by the firehose of sewage.

I personally don't think Twitter is going anywhere, but it's very clear that Musk needs to delegate, and do so very soon.

I personally don't think Twitter is going anywhere, but it's very clear that Musk needs to delegate, and do so very soon. I mean, if the rumours are true he's laid off or driven out between 6,500-7,250 of the 7,500-strong workforce that were there when he took control a couple or weeks back. I'm sure they can fill those positions eventually, but right now there's practically nobody left to delegate to.

I'm sure they can fill those positions eventually, but right now there's practically nobody left to delegate to. And he also cleared out tons of systems rendering them "unnecessary", so it's actually extremely likely that the site is going to have a catastrophic crash within a few days without the resources to manage having the f***ing World Cup going on (plus an AEW PPV and a new Pokemon game for some bonus increased traffic) with no one in the office to work on it and, indeed, the people who'd even know how to work on it no longer being there. It's extremely likely that by Monday the site will suffer a catastrophic crash and bare minimum will be down for weeks and even if it does come back from that they could very well lose everything. And for bonus points among those who left are 1), the entire Android division, and 2), the entire payroll department, so nobody's managing the books to get people paid and literally no one is equipped to handle the mobile site.

I don't go out of my way to seek assholes but it was like trying to dodge raindrops.

Even with subjects where people meant well it was always the nastiest or angriest folks with the most clicks and who would always spread the fastest. Not to mention all the light hearted subjects that became unnecessarily serious. Good for those who are able to get something positive from the platform, but the way Twitter operated (pre-Musky) was destroying my mental health. I had to bail for my sake.
