Personally speaking, I love that a Jewish man is AEW champion. Can't wait to see what he does now.

The right move.
I hope Moxley can get his well-deserved vacation now.

I love MJF, but I also would've loved to see him have to chase just a little more. Not a big deal, though. I know he's a God-tier heel, but they need to at least make him a tweener. At this point, everyone and their brother wants to cheer the guy.

As I said in the main thread, the era of "written in stone champion" is now over We have basically crowned every champion TK imagined with the title and now it is "wide open". With that said, there is reason Swerve/Lee should not be an AEW title match next year Eddie should be someone on the list to challenge MJF I really hope you are correct ,the title could use some wild unexpected choices. I mean TK really has no more excuses Outside of getting someone like John Cena, Brock Lesnar etc... you have a whole shit ton of options to choose from. I am not saying the title has to be on everyone but we should be in a "new era" now. Lee, Swerve, Hardlow, Kingston, Darby, Fenix, Penta etc all should be not far from challenging and possibly winning a world title. Like PAC is someone who could legit beat MJF the next PPV and it wouldn't feel out of place

Only thing I would have done different is have him run out the building with Regal like a coward. They're obviously not going to commit to a face turn so the big celebration thing was weird.

He should have a good long year reign. About time he’s champ it was a long time in the making.

I don't think he needs a year long reign. You can easily break it up and have him lose the title and then when it back. I wouldn't mind seeing a Jericho/HHH type situation
Just don't give him a JBL/Bobby Roode(TNA) type title reign where he just cheats every single title match

He should have a good long year reign. About time he’s champ it was a long time in the making. I don't think it should be that long. He's not the kind of heel that will be physically dominating other opponents (unless it's like a Matt Sydal or a Dante Martin) very often. And no, I'm not even saying that "bigger is better", because that died for good with Batista's ill-fated comeback. Just that MJF is the kind of guy where you buy him being eminently beatable even as a credible champion, so you can push someone who hasn't quite broken through yet up to title-challenger level to feud with him and possibly beat him. I don't really see him needing a dominant year-long reign, unless they decide to put FTR and Spears back with him so he has a goon squad again.

Just let him be the goon that he is. -Kingston's story is right there on a silver platter -Pentagon can go full violent asshole -Miro just needs to be booked and let loose Honestly, both the AEW World & TNT scene can get a shot in the arm.

That's really the big thing here. You could build almost _anyone_ (except maybe Serpentico) up to be the guy that takes him down. Or even if they do want to give him a long run, you can bring multiple people up to "credible challenger" status.

Have him hold it until Grand Slam and drop it to Eddie. I’ve said for a good long while now Eddie winning the big one - in the right arena - would rival the ‘that’ll put butts in seats’ Foley win in terms of sheer orgasmic pop. It would be such a feel good story to put it mildly.

I’ve said for a good long while now Eddie winning the big one - in the right arena - would rival the ‘that’ll put butts in seats’ Foley win in terms of sheer orgasmic pop. It would be such a feel good story to put it mildly. I'm not sure I can properly express to people how insane the crowd at Arthur Ashe would go if they got to see Eddie win the big one. Bonus points if he then sobbed and swore something on his mother's beautiful eyes. I heard a few guys leaving the arena last night complaining that "MJF doesn't need Regal", but my only response to that was "that's like saying it was a mistake to put Bobby Heenan with Mr. Perfect". There's a ton of places this reign can go, and frankly a ton of places the title scene can go now that we've basically reached the end of "chapter one" of its lineage. I won't say it needs to be x-number of months, though; let it be whatever length it needs to be or whatever length ends up being enjoyable, doesn't matter. If he suddenly loses it in a shocker in a month, so be it, if he holds it deep into 2023, so be it. I just know that I want to stick to my call, though, that some time in the next two years should give us a heel Swerve vs. face Starks title feud.

Also dude still has the best ass in AEW. Stupid shitty camera work making me miss it in the beginning Look I know this a big moment for MJF and his fans but as long as Sonny Kiss is on the roster, this statement is a LIE.

I wonder how much money Draft Kings saved off people betting on the Firm interfering in the main event last night?

This was absolutely the right call. MJF is one of the cornerstones of AEW and is deserving of a long title reign.
That being said, there was one sacrifice that had to have been made for this to happen that seems to have gone unnoticed. With Regal aligning himself with MJF, this also means that we may have seen the end of not only the Blackpool Combat Club, but more importantly, also the end of Regal’s over-the-top flirting with Excalibur.

Could also try getting Wardlow back to where he was, in terms of popularity, and get a rematch out of Max for the title. This was absolutely the right call. Now Regal’s gonna do old-man-creepy flirting with Excalibur.
