Wasn’t Faarooq running a gambling racket for a minute? I remember him betting on whether Mark Henry could rip telephone books and break chains and so forth. Did this even happen? lol Yeah, now that you reminded me about it that definitely happened. Ron was taking bets on Henry lifting cars, bending pans, etc. It's what lower mid carders did before the 24/7 title was a thing. On a side note this gimmick lasted until Henry got injured. Just like EVERY push Henry ever received.

Godfather returned in 2002 and they hyped he had gone "legit." He was no longer a pimp but the owner of an escort service. Then he turned heel and got rid of it and the girls. I think he spent most of his time on Velocity before he quietly left. He then returned as a pimp on the Raw Roulette episode in Las Vegas.

Wasn't he mistreating his ladies(just like a real pimp would)? I remember it being a very brief thing. Like it was the start of a heel turn, but it didn't materialize because he was released, or something.

On a side note, was it ever implied Batista was the same character as The Deacon? I don’t think they ever referenced it post repackaging. I mean, he was called Deacon Batista, they probably just didn't mention it because why would you? To my knowledge they never referenced the Deacon stuff but Raw commentary did make mention of Batista jumping brands from Smackdown.

I think Godfather and the Hos may have been in the adjacent segment, and the Hos were pretty shaken up about it, since you know, that could have actually murdered a guy. But Godfather didn't give a shit, and was pissed the Hos weren't into shaking their ass, and that's how they turned him heel and wrote off the Hos. Which means Godfather's Hos cared more about The Rock nearly getting killed than Rock did after Mania X8 and was cool with mutual respect because Hall and Nash on turned on him. That's wrestling for you.

I had no idea Farooq was billed under that name in WWE. He stopped using the name Faarooq for awhile because of the name being shared with an Al-Qaeda training camp. Really random and kind of especially strange that he swapped back to it later but WWE just kind of does that sometimes, like that month or so Apollo Crews didn't have a last name because there was a shooting or something with a guy with the last name Crews. No, the Apollo thing was even dumber because the Parkland shooter's name was Cruz, not Crews, but because they sound the same, Apollo lost his full name even though the names are otherwise completely different.

Molly Holly due to the body and virginity shaming that happened after.

Molly Holly due to the body and virginity shaming that happened after. It's obnoxious because she was game for a lot. The virginity thing didn't bother her, the granny panties gimmick was actually her idea, she was totally fine with playing along with a joke, but that wasn't enough. They had to call her fat and treat her terribly. I think Lawler has even said he got more hate mail for that than most of his actual heel work. That was a gimmick for no one.

My brain is nostalgia poisoned because I started watching around this time and remember most of this shit fondly. I voted for Valbowski, because jesus, what was the point?

Its pretty telling at how bad name change is when a shift away from a surname that rhymed with penis is running away with the poll.

There was a time right before Godfather went heel, which nobody really noticed because it was on Jakked/Metal, where the Godfather apparently fell under "hard times". His "hos" were no different than they usually were, but Kevin Kelly would be like "OH MY GOD THE HOS ARE SO UGLY"

Other than the dumb Hardcore title redesign, the thing I remember most with Bradshaw was him losing a previous title match to Stevie Richards, after Stevie attempted to just surrender the Hardcore title to him. Bradshaw declined, and lost like a goof.
It's too bad they wasted him for years trying to make him Stone Cold Lite, since once he transformed into JBL, he was such an effective heel and a very good promo.
