What is one match you think everyone should watch? Whether they are a fan or not. I thought it would be cool to see what you guys would pick. It's so hard for me to pick one, but I think given the climate of today's wrestling, I would choose Kenta Kobashi vs. Stan Hansen in September of 91. The match just starts off so unpredictable and Hansen just gets crazy heat. The strikes look realistic, everything works. MMA wasn't popular yet so I'd bet that most that were watching this thought it was a real fight. Not sure how to post YouTube shit on here but I'll at least drop the link. If any of you haven't seen this yet it's worth the watch, and I'm not even the biggest fan of Japanese Wrestling. This shit is hard though. www.youtube.com/watch?v=pq25HUA9kf4

Interesting idea. I kicked around a lot of matches. I almost went with a Perro Aguayo match because I think most modern fans overlook how incredible he was. His crowds are always so hot. He knew how to work.
Ultimately, I have to go with the 1992 Royal Rumble. To me, it encapsulates everything I love about pro wrestling. It is bursting with top talent. The amount of Hall of Famers is incredible. And even the lesser guys are fun colorful characters.
Plus you have a tremendous performance by one of the greatest wrestlers ever in Flair. Scored with excellent commentary bt Monsoon and Brain, you have maybe the most enjoyable hour in wrestling history.

Shane vs Miz where Shane kicked out of all his moves and won after Miz killed himself trying to kill this unkillable bright red sweating from head to toe possibly dead best in the world combat athlete.
Cause I like you a lot.

HBK vs HHH summerslam 2002.
Master story telling. Commentary adds a lot to that as well.

Dynamite Kid/Tiger Mask. The match that was so far ahead of its time. That match holds up today.

It's a cliche answer, but Shawn vs. Taker at Mania 25 is just a masterclass of the modern wrestling match.

The 1 hour long Kazuyuki Fujita vs. Go Shiozaki match from when the pandemic had just started because I need to know if you're a ride or die.
If we can't watch Fujita literally drink hand sanitizer, spit it out, and start vomiting because dude just violated his whole body then idk dude

I recommend a modern classic like Shelly Martinez vs. Rebel.

If I was showing one match to a non fan it would be a great Lucha match. They aren’t likely to get swept up in storytelling first go. So I’d pop in Vikingo vs Bandido vs Fenix Vs Laredo Kid vs Taurus from one of the TripleManias this year and let them enjoy the spectacle.
Maybe Shibata vs Ishii from the 2013 G1. If they don’t like that…they won’t like anything.

Shield vs. Wyatt Family from Elimination Chamber 2014. Love that match. Great atmosphere and storytelling.

Kurt Angle v Undertaker back in 2003 or whatever it was. Shame it was on a B PPV, Vince is the none who negged the two facing at Mania

Two matches I like to show any non/casual-fan;
Undertaker v. Mankind-Hell in a Cell, for the spectacle and sheer insanity.
Bryan Danielson v. Christopher Daniels v. Low Ki-Ring of Honor, for how perfect the match plays out and sells the crowd on the promotion.

Keeping it to 1-1 matches.
Warrior v Savage at Wrestlemania 7.
The commentary gives you all the backstory you need, you have the image of the prototypical superhero monster wrestler against someone pulling out every trick in his book just to survive let alone win, the hero unable to win, doubting himself.
Then the ending with the heel's evil manager turning on him, and being saved by this beautiful woman from the crowd who's from his past.
While seeing it in real time over years helps that moment, everything you need is contained in the match.

AJ Styles vs Christopher Daniels vs Samoa Joe Unbreakable 2005.
Three guys who most would have never heard of a decade ago. Great match with every kind of action you could want.

In 1994 I was rooming with a guy that absolutely hated pro wrestling. He's go on and on about how fake and stupid it was every time I had it on.
One weekend, I rented Wrestlemania 10, and the roommate walked by during the Shawn Michaels vs Razor Ramon ladder match, and was hooked. He saw almost the whole match, and made no comments beyond the occasional "Oh my God!". He still wasn't a pro wrestling fan afterwards, but the negative comments mostly stopped.

I forget which year's King of the Ring, but Owen Hart vs 1-2-3 Kid. It's very short, but unrelenting, and has one of the best starts of any match for catching the unwary off guard.
