EC3 vs Dean Ambrose. Crowd saw that WWE was trying to bury Mox on his way out with the Nia Jax stuff, and what should have been a moment that catapulted EC3 up the card actually caused him to be rejected due to the crowd rebelling

Ron Simmons beating Vader. They didn't build up any heels to be on the same main event level so of course Simmons reign didn't feel right. If Rick Rude had challenged him afterwards, the reign could've been good. Instead they had The Barbarian of all people as Simmons opponent at Halloween Havoc.

I think if Sheamus had won against Bryan in a regular competitive match, some in the crowd may have grumbled a bit but accepted it. Doing what they did lead the fans to flat out revolt against him and the entire show Bryan was the heel, it was at 'mania and the story leading up to that match called for Sheamus to win. The problem wasn't that Bryan lost and Sheamus won, it was how he lost and how Sheamus won, which made Bryan look awful considering finishers being kicked out at 'mania are practically a given and it also made Sheamus look awful due to cheap shotting Bryan and more or less passing up an opportunity for a fight.
Even worse, Cody Rhodes vs The Big Show was practically begging to be made a squash match due to the build of Cody taunting Show over past WM failures.
And then they have the table match the next month and that kinda fluky win is how Cody should have gotten it back after being squashed in a few seconds. Made no sense and you wanted to smack everyone involved in the decisions. At least it built to Daniel Bryan getting momentum to become a babyface main eventer at Mania Batista winning the Royal Rumble leading to Mania 30 made no one care about his run right before staring in Guardians of the Galaxy. I mean those Shield matches were fun and all but it killed Batista's heart to do anything again for the WWE in that way unlike the Rock or John Cena

Chris Sabin winning the TNA world title for a couple weeks was such a throwaway reign (and it was incredibly obvious from the second he won it that it was going right back to Bully Ray) that it would have been better if he just came up short against Bully Ray to start with. Besides Aries, did Option C actually help anyone? Asking legitimately, as I have never seriously followed TNA/Impact. I know it was used to get Aries into the main event, which he was certainly ready for at that stage, but did Sabin or anyone else actually come out of their cash-in looking better for it? The only two I can think of are Brian Cage (who then almost immediately suffered a serious back injury) and Josh Alexander. Speaking of the X Division title, Kenny King beating RVD for the X Division title. Mainly cause it was clear RVD was checked out mentally and it was clear they were just trying to get the belt off of him until they could figure out what they wanted to do.

The way Dean Douglas "won" the IC belt (and then promptly lost it) was basically the end of him in the WWF.

At least it built to Daniel Bryan getting momentum to become a babyface main eventer at Mania After finishing with Sheamus, Bryan went onto a feud with CM Punk that didn't move the needle and spent the rest of the year teaming with Kane. And when he got the Summerslam 2013 main event, the buy rate was pretty poor, in part due to nobody buying that Bryan was going to leave the champ.
I maintain that without 18 seconds, Bryan would still have got as over as he did due to his sheer talent.

Yeah I think if Lex had simply won by count out, setting up a rematch it would have been fine. However, he just looked like a complete goober. He couldn’t but the pre-match stipulation was this was his one and only title shot, so it makes his celebration that much worse. Of course, they planned to get themselves out of that by having him win the Rumble, but Lex took that damage and Bret was more popular. So he was f***ed. Ah I didn't know/forgot there was a stipulation in place.

Option C worked in a roundabout way for Josh Alexander since he won the title from Christian only to lose it to Moose a few seconds later. But then that built up to a blood feud between Moose and Alexander where Josh eventually got his shot and won. And he's been Champ ever since.

It feels Ko winning the universal belt in the fatal four way match actually long term didn't help his main event credibility since it was basically rendered to a plot point for Seth's feud with Triple H-well that and poor booking. Likewise it feels people were on board with Goldberg's return at first till he took the belt off of KO and that seemed to lead to some of the crowd turning on him.
On a similar note it seems like what was supposed to be the launching pad of a major baby face title run for Seth when he beat Brock, felt instead like it just kind of exposed that he is not a main event baby face.
Charlotte's big win at Summerslam 2018 was really when people started to turn on her. The fact WWE had her win over a growingly major over Becky was what really hurt her and almost like Bryan/Sheamus actually had the opposite effect on who it got over.
