What would you say it was? I think Cena’s injury in 07 literally days before he was suppose to drop the title to Orton after a year of holding it is a top contender

Isn't it heavily rumored this is what started the Invasion angle earlier? I think they wanted the title reign to hit a year plus which was a huge deal at the time With HHH I think that would of been interesting. I wonder who’s side he would of been on during the invasion |

Sting's knee injury in 1990. It didn't end up hurting him much in the long run and it really only set him back like five months but at the time it horrible timing for an injury for him.

Stone Cold getting his neck broken at Summerslam 97 narrowly became this and just barely averted it. Can we include the giant list of injuries from Sting, Orton, and Rollins etc that clearly messed up all the WrestleMania 32 plans?

Can we include the giant list of injuries from Sting, Orton, and Rollins etc that clearly messed up all the WrestleMania 32 plans? The alternate timeline if Austin is paralysed/has to actually retire following that piledriver is very interesting. The injury itself notwithstanding, of course. Who becomes the top face going into 1998? Undertaker? No way is it going to be Bret or Shawn. Does Bret end up staying? |

If Austin is paralyzed or at least unable to ever wrestle again there's no way Vince gives Bret his release just a few weeks later. Vince gave Bret the news at the first MSG Raw a few weeks after SummerSlam. There's no way he let's Bret walk after losing his next potential top star. I could see Vince going back to Bret vs Shawn for WM 14 due to panic and not having anyone else ready. Perhaps, Bret and a now babyface Hart Foundation feud with DX? Even if Shawn still gets hurt and leaves after WM14 and HHH takes over DX, we get Bret vs HHH and Owen/Davey vs NAO for the tag belts. Jim could put X-Pac over every night. This would have been amazing the more I think about it! |

Daniel Bryan getting hurt a few weeks after everyone FINALLY getting what they wanted at WM 30. Not only did it suck for DB and the fans, but WWE went into panic mode and rushed the Shield break up due to a need for a number 2 face behind Cena. Vince had been salivating at the thought of pushing his shiny new toy and couldn't wait to shove him down everyone's throats as their new jacked up, pretty boy hero. Problem was, people weren't ready to give up on DB just yet and certainly weren't ready to accept Replacement Cena.
This started a creative tailspin for WWE that I still don't think they've recovered from. Although HHH does seem to finally be making strides to fix all of Vince's misfires since the DB injury / premature Roman babyface push.

Finn immediately came to mind for me. It killed his main event push dead. The cynic in me wonders if it gave Vince the excuse he needed to never push him again.

Sting in 1990. He'd been carefully groomed and positioned for 2, 3+ years to become the company's top babyface and was to have his crowning moment at WrestleWar. Then he injures his knee. Lex Luger is quickly turned face to challenge Flair at the event, ruining his own successful build as a top heel, with Flair refusing to drop the title to him and instead holding it until Sting could return. By then the angle had cooled, Sting didn't get quite so hot a crowning moment, and WCW had kind of stalled for a year.

I feel Bret definitely probably ends up staying because he's the closets thing to a big star of Vince had. WWE may have survived but may not have been such a smooth ship for them in this alternative timeline where Stone colds out paralyzed or retired. |

A lot of good ones. HHH not getting injured in 01 makes me think about invasion and the could have been if they at less pushed in to 02 when Flair, NWO, Mysterio, and even Bischoff. If timed right could gone longer adding in Steiner and Goldberg.
Finn is the big one I wonder what happens if he didn't get hurt.
Others not mentioned.
What if Kevin Nash didn't tear his quad in 02. Would we gotten NWO longer. How would HBK return to the ring play in. Would we almost have a full on Kliq on camera vacation? Since HHH jump ship.
What if RVD didn't break his ankle in ECW while TV Champion?
Mr. Kennedy and his injuries that derailed his push more than once to the point he was never really trusted to ME.
Batista Injury that took him out of WM 22. That also lead Kurt Angle becoming World Champion. Which in that run gave us that classic NWO match with Taker. If Batista didn't have to give up the title how would that played into WM. Where would everything fallen from Rumble to Mania. Would the match agianst Mark Henry happen at Mania or would it been a simple replace Angle with Batista and than WM where does Angle go?
