One from Mr. Kennedy, while he was MITB he got hurt. Doctors told him he would need surgery and 6 months off. WWE has him drop the MITB to Edge. Edge cashes in MITB the next day. On Wednesday we find out that the doctor was wrong, he didn't need surgery and he only needed 4 weeks off.

I could be mixing something up but in that story I remember a shadow.

Seth Rollins knee injury derailed a lot of things. He’s done extremely well for himself, but I don’t think he’s ever gotten to where it seemed he was heading

RVD getting hurt in 2000 took away ECW's biggest match and ended a very long title reign in the process. It was really hard for Rob or the company to find that momentum again before they went out of business.

I think Balor is the big one. He was mega pushed, beating Roman clean in his Raw debut then beating Seth clean to become the first Universal champion at Summerslam. If he doesn't immediately get injured at that point maybe he's a top guy for years to come instead of mostly an upper-midcarder who occasionally gets a main event spot. Kennedy too. If he doesn't get that injury in 2007 he keeps the MITB, he's revealed as Vince's illegitimate son and he faces HHH at Wrestlemania. At that point you're so all in with him and he's such a major part of the show you probably keep him around and put up with him being injury prone and saying some dumb stuff in interviews. Can we include the giant list of injuries from Sting, Orton, and Rollins etc that clearly messed up all the WrestleMania 32 plans? Yeah. Cena, Cesaro, Bray Wyatt, Luke Harper, Nikki Bella and Neville too. The Wrestlemania 32 card could have been way better than what we got.

As a Dragon Gate fan, I think at least 9 out of 10 of the worst timed injuries are all K-Ness/Darkness Dragon. The dude had an insanely high ceiling but was also made of glass, spent half his career injured, and most of the rest of it in the undercard because literally every time he got pushed he got injured.

Brutus Beefcake summer 1990. This was probably his hottest point in WWF. He was poised to win the IC title from Mr. Perfect. It would have been a much better choice than Kerry and he may have been able to hold it longer than Kerry. I'm not sure where Brutus goes in 91. I do feel like he would get stale just based on the singles heels at the time and the limitations in those matches or feuds. Let people say what they will about Brutus cruising on being a Hogan friend but he came back to WWF less than a year later with the run in man gimmick and then the Barber Shop gimmick. And in WWF and WCW he was an in ring competitor up until the late 90s. He may not have had an in ring injury and got insurance like Perfect, Nikita, Hawk or Rude (coincidentally all the Minnesota boys) but his sailing injury may have been much worse and he came back as soon as he could. IIRC he was pictured just a few months after the injury (pre run in man) doing an autograph signing in a late 1990 WWF magazine photo.

Rollins in 2015. Think we would have gotten that Shield triple threat as the mania main event which would have taken a lot of stink off mania 32.

I recall how Beth Phoenix got injured immediately upon her arrival in WWE’s womens division and we had to wait a good while to see her back in action. .

Mr. Perfect in 1991. Sure, he had the classic with Bret at Summerslam after being injured, but what if he had been able to keep competing? He likely would have formed an alliance with Flair, and I would have like to have seen him against Savage, Sid, and Taker.

Rick Rude also came to mind. Dude got hurt right before Hogan came in to WCW and he would have easily been a top heel he could work with and make some money in the process. A healthy Rick Rude at that time would have excelled by being a great worker with size and flexibility character wise. And he would have been a huge hot commodity as a wrestler during the Monday Night Wars both because of his name/talent and the fact that I imagine he could have really leaned in to the Attitude Era stuff pretty well.

Ditto Steamboat. He could have had some real classics with guys like Benoit, Malenko, Eddie, etc during mid-90s WCW.

OT, but Cena should've lost the title to Orton at SummerSlam On topic, maybe Triple H in 2001? Isn't it heavily rumored this is what started the Invasion angle earlier? I think they wanted the title reign to hit a year plus which was a huge deal at the time With HHH I think that would of been interesting. I wonder who’s side he would of been on during the invasion HHH saves WWE by single-handedly beating all of the Alliance. Then, all of the Alliance decides to join with HHH, who turns on and beats all of WWE. Then HHH says he doesn't need the Alliance and none of them deserve to be in his company, so he beats them all up again and runs them out of WWE.
