As much shit as we talk about the guy and as much of a tool he can be sometimes, good on him for this

Half of it was donated by Chrus Jericho.

Jericho really does seem like a good dude. A lot of the flack he draws seems to come from the fact that he has a tendency to be a little too much of an equal opportunity good dude, which results in him offering a platform to people he really, really shouldn't offer a platform to.

I think the big issue is who he and his wife donates their money to and what that platforms hateful rhetoric has caused violence towards marginalized communities. But good on him for donating to Hamlin.

But good on him for donating to Hamlin. I get it. And I strongly disagree with Jericho's wife's politics. Obviously, I'll leave it at that. Apparently being a politically-misguided Boomer isn't enough to make me outright dislike Jericho, though, against the backdrop of all of the kind and charitable things he's done throughout his career.

Poor Chrus. Gets no credit for his donation because some wrestleguy has a similar stage name

But good on him for donating to Hamlin. I said this in another thread but I'll repeat here. I never get the impression that Chris is a bad person. I take it that he's rather naive and will attach his name to things he doesn't understand or isn't fully informed of and comes out with egg in his face. Maybe I'm giving him too much credit but just the impression I've always gotten especially because he's been fairly open about how he was fairly upset when he left WWE the first time he really couldn't break into mainstream and Fozzy didn't really get bigger till after his 2nd comeback

Chris has a big heart and a keen interest in hearing and talking to people from all sides of the debate on all manner of topics. I respect the hell out of that. The fewer echo chambers, the better.
In addition, how he and his wife vote is no one's business but their own. As a Scot, I couldn't give a monkeys how someone votes. It's their right to vote however they wish. I say the same here for our own politics.
We need to stop demonising people on here just because they may have a different view on things. It's f***ing childish.

Going too much into politics will get this locked ,but just gonna add what he and especially his wife did, went beyond voting. It involved donations and spreading conspiracy theories

Jericho has done some stupid shit and had some takes that have made me roll my eyes. But I've never questioned the size of the man's heart or his intention to do right by people in their time of need. Him taking David Benoit under his wing, flying Negative One to Dynamite when the kid going through the worst thing any eight year-old can ever go through, and his donations here and to Wesley Blake after Sara Lee died, all confirm, at least to me, that deep down, he's a good man.

Someone's politics become other's peoples business when that someone makes it other people's business.
Jericho's a complicated person who I do think has a lot of good in him. But he also does dumb shit, too.

I have told this story before, but I remember Colt Cabana making fun of Jericho when Retromania came out and he was streaming it, showing off a stage with a skeleton band playing in basically hell. "Oh cool, it's Fozzy at Sturgis!" Jericho, 'locker room leader' or not, was catching a lot of criticism for some exceedingly foolish behavior at points in the (ongoing) pandemic. Similarly, I'm sure many of the same people who respect that he's one of the most generous donators to wrestling/sports causes, also roll their eyes at a lot of his boneheaded shit.
I think a lot of wrestlers reconcile that people they respect in the context of wrestling sometimes let them down or are even outright awful in other areas of their lives. Mick Foley had a lot of love for Shane Douglas and Dominic Denucci, but I doubt he'd have had much of a kind word for the people they became later in life. Kane is another obvious example.
I couldn't tell you personally how Jericho rationalizes his own company he keeps, or causes he gets involved in sometimes. How he can interview Nyla Rose and extend curiosity and empathy towards her while bumping elbows with some of the slime he does who'd wish her nothing but harm, I do not know. It's one of those human contradictions.

Even taking politics out of it Jericho does definitely have some notable instances of acting like a tool, like continually taking shots at WWE only to then get hyper-defensive toward Shotzi joking about him and threatening to get her blackballed.

Chris Jericho essentially grew up in the wrestling business, so it's kind of amazing that he hasn't done anything really, really dumb up to this point. No one can really question the dude when it comes to things like this though. Honestly I think it's partly because of what happened to his mom is a big part of that. Just speculation on that of course, but no matter the reason Jericho seems to be a good guy with some dumbassed views on things sometimes.

Also Jericho is a really really bad drunk. The more he stays away from alcohol, the better he usually acts.

Jericho's donation was larger than the Washington Commanders' donation.

Are we going to bring up Jericho’s and his Wife’s politics every time we discuss Chris Jericho? Good grief this is beyond ridiculous. You think these 2 are the only people in wrestling who has believed in crazy conspiracies? People from all different parts of the political spectrum have believed in nutty conspiracies of all different flavors. Did Jericho’s Wife crash into the Capital?
Hate on Jericho or love him or believe he is a complicated human but an overall good one like most of us, but dam…this non stop political talk on this board is making me gag.

I really don't care what some wrestler's politics are so long as they entertain me. That being said good on Jericho for showing that he cares.
