This is a low-key one, but I'm always tickled by Nikolai Volkoff bounding down to the ring early only for the referees to hold him back for a full 2 minutes whilst he watches on benignly as Boris Zhukov is dumped over the top. Was it ever determined whether that "mistake" was planned or not? It made sense as a planned moment to show viewers that only one guy could enter at a time and that waiting your turn was strictly enforced. But on the other hand, it doesn't seem out of the question that Nikolai or Muraco legit screwed up. It was really odd. I think it was planned although I don't really know what they were going for. Only thing I can think of is that maybe Nikolai was trying to skip a spot so he could get in quicker to help Boris. It would I guess also explain then Zhukov getting dumped out right in front of him before he could get in to I guess put over that his plan didn't work. However Vince and Jesse did nothing to put it over on commentary so I don't know.

Reading this thread made me realize how unkind the Rumble match has been for Scotty 2 Hotty. He was entered for four of them, 2000-2002 and 2005. The first one has probably one of the shining moments of his entire career with the mid-match dance break, but he gets thrown out without even throwing a punch in anger. 2001, The Undertaker and Kane eat him for an afternoon snack and he gets thrown out again without throwing a punch in anger. 2002, he gets laid out in the entrance way by Undertaker with one punch, but got lucky that he was pre-occupied with Maven, so he actually makes it in and HITS MOVES IN A RUMBLE for the only time ever... but he's damaged goods and gets thrown quickly. 2005, he's laid out in the entrance way AGAIN, by Muhammad Hassan, who unlike Undertaker in 2002, actually finishes him off with a Camel Clutch and he doesn't officially enter the match as a result. So, yeah, he had a rough old go of it in the Rumble, but that dance break is literally one of the great moments in the history of the match, and that's a lot more memorable than the average guy having a 20-30 minute stretch in there.

Simon Dean in 2005 Rumble.
He comes down and warms up. JR is aghast: “Come on. He had ALL DAY to warm up and he’s doing it now.” After that, he enters and is quickly eliminated by HBK who mocks Simon. Hahaha!
