Personally I tend not to want to see people who steal from those in need on my TV, even if they were an okay early 2010s wrestler. He stole from people in need? I didn't know about this?

Didnt he and Ted Sr. not end up being prosecuted for that? Juts Brett and some other guy? Not being protecuted doesn't mean they're not guilty, it means they're rich, famous and white in a state where those things get you out of a lot of trouble, like taking millions of dollars in money earmarked to help the poor. Ted Jr. and Sr. knew they were in no way entitled to money from TANF and the foodstamp program, they weren't even considered for the programs prior to Brett getting a job overseeing them but they took it anyway, while only 10% of applicants who were actually in need were approved for aid. They're being sued for the money but who knows how that will play out. Not just that, but Dibiase Sr and Jr are presently being sued by the state of Mississippi to relcaim millions lost in the welfare fraud case. Bret was criminally prosecuted because he was a government employee misappropriating funds and that's just a higher priority criminal pursuit, but it's not like the guys are even off the hook yet. The case to claw back the money is ingoing and the Department of Justice as of only a few months ago was trying to take Dibiase Jr's home on the claim it was purchased with money from this welfare fraud case. These guys aren't off the hook for anything right now even if they aren't being pursued for jail time. Ted Jr is being asked to pay back over three million.

They're being sued for the money but who knows how that will play out. I’ve looked into this case a bit. I don’t think it was so much them applying for and getting approved for welfare benefits as someone in need, it was them providing welfare services to the poor, through training and things of that nature. The Federal statute that led to the creation of the TANF expressly allows for the money to be used by the states to pay for programs that can benefit the poor like job training, drug rehab, things of that nature. Now I’m sure there was something crooked in nature going on there, especially on the State’s end and especially as I think some of the recipients actually never gave the seminars/trainings they were getting paid for (not sure if that was true for any of the Dibiases or not). Terrible situation all around, though. As to the topic, Dibiase Jr. is so bland, I think he’d get a Conway pop if he ever made a return.

There were once credible news stories he was not just set to face the Undertaker at WM but potentially end the streak too. Crazy. Wow, I forgot all about that. Wrestlemania 25 or 26, right? The dirtsheet rumors for months had that locked in for the Wrestlemania card with him likely ending the streak because Vince was so high on him. It would have been an unmitigated disaster. Missing out on one or both of the classic HBK matches, a completely boring and un-over guy ending the streak and then they'd probably have to keep him around for years and years and keep pushing him to justify that they were right in giving him that kind of accolade.
