Has this aged well for you?
You can tell this was a purely Vince Russo thing as there were so many insider terms.
Vince comes out and tries to make sense of this with Gunn and Dogg.
"You know me better than that" from Dogg. Sunny crying through out. Funk with his shivering.
Jim Ross explaining the term "and attempt to get over. getting over a term wrestelers use to getting over with their peers, promoters, with the fans , too much".
Some wrestlers attacking the Outlaws which the acting tried to make it out like a shoot to generate real emotion.
"heard a term I haven't heard in a long time, WRESTLERS court".
"whether you are a bad guy wrestler or a fan favorite, they all have families to feed."
"both those men (outlaws) have children, how can they be proud of that. how can they be proud of their daddies."
HBK: "you want some ratings, you want to push the bar!"
Gunn: "at 6 o'clock tomorrow night, when they get the nielsen ratings, a lot of people at titan towers are gonna love the New Age Outlaws."
Has this become just some classic crash TV attitude era stuff for you or is this simply nauseating crap from the one and only Vince Russo?

Funny thing is that Foley and Funk somehow got seriously injured (in kayfabe) despite the fact that the dumpster had a lot of padding in it.
Two years later, the same thing happened to the Dudley’s (by X-pac and Road Dogg) and the Dudley’s didn’t get injured

I watched that Raw a few years ago and it might be the most boring episode I've ever watched. They just spend soooooo damn much time after it happens replaying it and cleaning up afterward and having the commentators be super concerned, get trying to put over the seriousness of the moment but it just drags on and on and on and on. Putting things into perspective just looking it up on Peacock that segment starts at 12 minutes into the show and nothing else happens on it until 27 minutes later, and that isn't accounting for commercials.

If it'd been something that happened at the end of one show, then the next episode, play a replay early on and question if Cactus and Funk are okay, that'd have been better, then you just have them come to Austin's rescue like they did at that show. Just, doing it in the same episode with all the bullshit made everyone look like an idiot and it was one of the most boring episodes of the Attitude era. It's not as boring as the "Are Undertaker and Kane in cahoots? " angle, but that was stretched out over many ponderous episodes, not concentrated all into one, so this is in some ways duller.

No in the sense that if you watched it all for entertainment today you'd be bored as detailed above.
Yes in the sense that that all that nonsense helped ensure its remembered years later to the point aew have paid homage to it. There's a lot of crazy spots and stunts that are theoretically better but are forgotten.

It seemed like a parody of when Hall and Nash attacked Rey Mysterio and others in July 1996.

It was a relatively safe bump, the whole reaction of the rest of the locker room made it stand out (Scorpio's great), and it pretty much made the hottest tag team of the era.
When I rewatched it I thought it held up quite well as drama - the Outlaws do their big move and are immediately... horrified. Outcasts. Regretting it. But then DX slowly worm their way into their heads and Shawn wins their souls.
What dates it is that DX turned face a week laters so this heinous act became forgotten as the Outlaws and Mick Foley became best buddies by the end of the year!

I'm sure if I watch it again it won't have aged well, like most of the Attitude era, but at the time it was a really interesting and different episode of Raw.

It was quite soon after WrestleMania 14. April 1998 was this weird time where they had to finish off DX feuds with Owen Hart (who was turned heel because DX were so popular) and the LOD (who were falling apart) while their former heels were getting some of the louder cheers of the night.

The spot itself aged well.
The "insider" stuff was never good to begin with and has only gotten worse.

If it is overwhelmingly "no," can we get Russo to tell us what we didn't understand?

Can we ask the Gunn Club now what they thought?

I can assure you, as a fan in attendance in Indianapolis that night, that it was 500 times more boring in person. We couldn't hear any of the commentary or conversations. It was like paying to watch the cleanup after a car wreck.

I think the spot still holds up. But I feel like I give a lot of stuff grace when maybe I shouldn’t, lol.
Now, the insider stuff PLUS these dudes coming back at the end of the damn show after all that time spent gassing it up??? Oh yeah, that was Russo-ridiculous, lmaooo
Shout out Terry Funk’s bare ass cheeks making an appearance

The spot itself was fine, especially with Jim Ross' commentary. Everything else surrounding it, yeesh.

"both those men (outlaws) have children, how can they be proud of that. how can they be proud of their daddies." Can we ask the Gunn Club now what they thought? That would be fantastic if that's ever brought up in a promo from the Gunn Club against Billy being a bad father to them.
