Between the Performance Center, the Dark tapings and now ROH, is Orlando the top wrestling city in the country?

I still feel like it might be Chicago. Feels like anytime someone wants a red-hot crowd, Chicago's the place to promote.

I'd say that might stop if Punk is gone for good, but since Tony Khan's from Chicagoland, he'll keep it alive. As far as Orlando, I don't think it qualifies by itself, but if you include Tampa 75 minutes down the road... I get that impression that's a pretty convenient place for wrestlers to live as far as making travel arrangements?

Philly still gets a lot of WWE and AEW visits, as does the PA region as a whole CHIAKRA going as it did sucked though, they were a big hub of international and rising talent in the area, but we still have Indies who get good talent that come down this way

I'm in a part of PA that basically doesn't have any indies. We used to have a shindie, but that's basically gone now, as far as I can tell. And WWE stopped doing TV here years ago. Because, why try to establish a promotion or a talent base here when you're gonna get muscled out by Philly, South Jersey, and the Baltimore/DC Metro all within 2 hours? Hell, even with traffic, NYC would be within 3 hours.

In 2021 I counted all the active promotions in each state as listed by Cagematch.net. NJ/PA combined had 77! Important to note though Cagematch.net isn’t all inclusive and some promotions may not have made the site (conversely some others may be dead). Also, those are for the entire state rather than just the metro area (it is a heck of a long drive from Pittsburgh, PA to Cape May, NJ!). Still, I’d imagine the bulk of those 77 would be around the metro area just given the population density. It’s a heck of a lot of wrestling!

Yeah, credit to New Jersey, they've been a hotbed, too.
It's a shame, some places have experienced resurgences, but I have seen a number of wrestlers complain the Midwest remains really difficult to promote in, so wrestlers from Colorado, etc, often need to travel extensively to get bookings with any regularity, something that's difficult to do if you're not already established, something you can't manage if you can't get booked anywhere. So, it's a tough place to start off at.

Florida in general has always been the hotbed for wrestling as Gordon Solie always said “So Long From The Sunshine State”

If Jersey is capitol of indie wrestling (and it's got a good claim), the capitol building is the Knights of Columbus in Ridgefield Park.

Dusty Rhodes got his first face run there, learning under Eddie Graham, which was, for better and worse, also where Dusty learned how to book from Eddie's example.

Just a much more expensive venue to book so while they do get MLW every so often and do have a New Japan show, it just isn't worth the money for most indy companies. I'd say New York, New Jersey, and Chicago have surpassed Philly.

I had a twitter exchange with the ICW:NHB account a couple months ago, and he said that PA doesn't allow blood anymore, which makes it really hard to do anything reminiscent of ECW, much less deathmatches. However, Battleground Championship Wrestling runs out of 2300 every once in a while with some pretty big names. Problem is, it's f***ing Rob Feinstein who owns that outfit.

I always thought they all have these shows and promotions there as Florida has no income tax and lots of wrestlers already live there due to this.

Do wrestlers get fined even for hardway blood in PA now?
