I used to defend Russo as a character, as I felt he was a fun, detestable heel, but I sort of lost all patience for his entire on-screen run the second he booked himself winning the WCW Championship. Come ON. I get it was presented as a fluke, but it was the last and greatest indignity the belt suffered in a year full of them. I always felt it was his final middle finger to his WCW run, as at that point he was sick with concussions and knew he was out the second the company was sold.
However, the segment where he invaded Ric Flair’s home with David and Daffney was solid.

Russo was just an instant channel changer in my opinion. Just straight up obnoxious. I recall once Russo cutting a promo in ring about challenging John Rocker to a match at Starrcade in New York. His booking in WCW was just a giant mess and an ego trip for Russo as an on screen “talent” altogether.

Vince Russo. Anyway, I think the only thing he's ever done onscreen that I found funny was some segment taking place in Mick Foley's house where he had Vince Russo sleeping in what was clearly a child's bed as if he lived there.

He knew how to be obnoxious enough to get under the audiences skin-but he insisted on injecting himself into things he had no place in, and he never grasped that the bad guy does have to lose WCW eventually; most usually Mister McMahon picked another wrestler to be his chosen one, when he did get in the ring himself it was the pay off to a greater story, and the pay off was seeing him get trashed in the end. On top of that he looked totally out of place in the ring; Vince at least had a Herculean physique, Bischoff could throw some legit looking punches and kicks-Russo had a pot belly, pipe cleaner arms, and the wrestlers threw him around like a sack of dirt. He had no business trying to get in on the action unless it was in a heel manager type role.

He sure knew how to deliver those lines. After all he was a writer. As a character he was completely undevelped but he had strong delivery. And of course he was THE only one that had cojones to send Hogan home and free WCW out of toxic strongholds knows and Hogan's employee contract.
On the other hand I think Eric was and still is the best sleazy boss character to ever grace our TVs in modern wrestling. He was belivable and sleazy as hell. Vinnie Mac was too cartoonish like New Era gimmick with some raunchy sauce from Attitude Era on top of him. Eric was full package. Such a shame no TV show casted him in a dirty police boss or character something.

And it doesnt take “cajones” to talk a bunch of crap when Hogan had already left the building and thinks they are just working an angle. “Cajones” would be standing up to Hogan face to face like a man.

Dude acts worse than he writes.
Like I'm genuinely surprised people are saying he was good on the mic. Yikes

When you describe a performer as having “IT”, that intangible quality that just makes them come across as a true star…Vince Russo was the antithesis of that. No presence, no charisma, just some schlub in a Yankees jersey pretending he belongs on TV.

Like damn you're already torturing me and now you're getting yr Howard Stern on? WONDERFUL DUDE JUST WHAT EVERY GROWING BOY AND GIRL WANTS.

i am STILL genuinely shocked he appeared onscreen! but holy crap you KNEW he was ... even his arms ... so brash and so loud, but damn well knew he had it brought so much raw energy to the ring, but was LAID BACK in his style too ... you had trouble making out what was behind that mind of his ... his swagger walking towards the ring, sure mimicking vinces gate, but it was done in such a louche way! and having so much history of writing the storylines, he just made it so effortless to me he might have been a gigantic git, but you sat UP whenever he was onscreen!
