I wish games were a bit more transparent sometimes about mechanics.
"This spell increases your speed." Okay, by how much? By double? By just 10 percent? Let me know if this spell is a waste of my time or not.
"This is the Luck stat." WHAT DOES IT DO? Every game seems to have something different for that.

I actually quite like the Wayne's World game for the SNES.

Square Enix shouldn't have tried to make Life is Strange into a franchise. Dontnod caught lightning in a bottle with the first game and they were never gonna be able to recapture that. And all attempts to recapture either by Dontnod or Decknine have come up lacking for one reason or another. Plus all the games made after one are forever stuck living in its shadow forever being compared to it be it fair or not. The sequel games if anything should have probably been released under different names and they might have been able to fair better

Not sure I'd say calling them something else would've really helped much though since of what I've played of Tell Me Why I'd call it quite handily much worse than the Life is Strange games.

That's one of my favorite games, jank and all.

RDR2 is both the most amazing open world I've ever seen and has gameplay where I never had all that much fun playing it. My experience with RDR2 is I did an initial runthrough of it when it came out, shelved it before doing the epilogue, never actually went back to do the epilogue, and then kind of spent a lot of time afterward dismissing it as a boring waste of time that'd be an insufferable chore to ever play again. Then I did play it again last year and while I still have a lot of issues with it on the whole I came away from it much more positive. It probably helps there'd been a couple years of quality of life improvements and glitch fixes in that time (hell, the camp quick travel on its own is an absolutely massive improvement from how it was at launch), and I do still certainly not like it nearly as much as the first game or GTA4 or GTA5, but it does have a lot of stuff that really makes it stick with you. Even if I do think that it suffers a looooot from the main story kind of mostly being a drawn-out chore that's only really tolerable due to how well the cast performs the material with the sidequests doing a lot of the heavy lifting to make the game interesting. Either way I actually played the epilogue on that run and thought the epilogue was f***ing terrible and ended the game on a long, drawn out bore of a sequence that adds nothing of value to the overall product.

-Metal Gear Solid 2 has the best gameplay in the series
-Gwyn in Dark Souls 1 is one of my least favorite Souls bosses.
-Dark Souls 2 kinda slaps actually
-I always thought Spyro was good but Crash is superior in just about every way
-Horror games where you have to run from enemies instead of being able to fight them are more frustrating than actually scary. Silent Hills 1 and 3 allow you to take out enemies and they're still the scariest s*** I've ever played lmao
-I'm also going to reiterate that the treasure levels in Sonic Adventure 2 are pretty dope. The real s***ty parts of that game are the Tails/Robotnik levels
-Every time I've tried to play Knuckles Chaotix I have no idea wtf is going on
-Resident Evils 5 and 6 aren't really that bad. Granted I haven't played 6 in forever, but 5 is awesome.

I love big open-world games with millions of side quests as much as anyone, but most games really don't need this. They don't have enough ideas to support that amount of gameplay. I'd rather have a tight 20 hours of excellent gameplay than 20 excellent hours and 40 so-so ones.
Also, games don't really need to add additional game mechanics purely for variety. Don't put a driving section in unless your driving mechanics are as smooth as every other style of play in your game. This is why I loved Arkham Asylum and Arkham City but never got very far into Arkham Knight. Gliding and grappling around the city is so much more fun compared to the Batmobile. I had zero interest in that battle mode either.

-Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes is the best way to play MGS 1. Yeah there's a few exploits and the voice acting is not as good as the OG, but I can't stand MGS 1's gameplay but love MGS2's.
-Perfect Dark is better than Goldeneye 007 in about everyway. However, I understand why people like Goldeneye more as it's a little more grounded and realistic than Perfect Dark and I can see the cyberpunk look of PD turning people away from people that love Goldeneye, so not that spicy of a take.
-Mario Kart 8 is one of the best if not the best in the series. I think people are done with it being around for nearly a decade but the game holds up. I feel like it's one good patch from being a 10 out of 10 game.
Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 is the best of the trilogy. People hate it for how wacky and over the top it is, I love it because of how wacky and over the top it is. No hate on MK1 or 2, but I find myself having dumb fun with UMK3 more than the other 2. Not sure if this is too spicy or not.

Mortal Kombat character designs in the recent games just aren't particularly memorable or stand out. This was especially true in MKX when a good chunk of the roster were based around the military and came across as being too similar to really stand out. Along with a dark choices of colours and subdued hues, they kinda seem dull in comparison to the rosters of other fighting games.

My attitude toward fishing in games is that before a developer implements it they should take a step back, ask themselves whether the game actually benefits from having it, and realize the answer is almost universally no.

I played the original Pokemon Red. Did not touch another one until Pokemon X. Honestly, it didn't feel like much had changed. Yeah the graphics were better and there were more Pokemon but considering I was jumping from the first generation to the sixth generation, it felt more like I'd missed a couple instalments of an EA sports franchise in how similar they were.

Most open worlds are lifeless, boring and completely unnecessary. I've dubbed this an "Ubisoft Open World". It REALLY stood out to me when I played Elden Ring and realized how fun that world was to actually explore. It felt more like "that place looks cool I'm gonna check it out" and less like "okay now time to explore every waypoint in a 50 mile radius and check off my list of tasks"

Spider-Man and the X-Men in Arcade's Revenge I was never able to finish that one due to the difficulty and lack of save progress (which I also had a problem with for the first SNES Jurassic Park game), so I have to disagree with you there, except for the soundtrack.

Crash Team Racing was a far more fun racing game than any Mario Kart to me, nailing the drift boosts was way more satisfying and consistent, course designs were better, and actually had some focus on the single player.
