It was funny how that kinda looked like when they were holding the ladder for him

That was pretty ridiculous, no lie. You could see Hobbs lose his ish thinking “what do I do”, cuz he probably didn’t want to break the flow of the climax of the Match but..hahaha yea, that looked ridiculous.

I honestly don't mind referees holding a ladder in a ladder match, so long as they're not directly preventing someone else from knocking the ladder over or otherwise influencing the match outcome.

We really bitching about refs holding ladders now? Seriously? Only when AEW does it. Don't point out that this is standard practice though, lest you be discovered as an "AEW apologist". (In all seriousness, the only issue here is with the camera angle which showed it plain as day)

(In all seriousness, the only issue here is with the camera angle which showed it plain as day) The camera angle was bad, probably should have had a bigger ladder there so the refs don't get caught, and for safety so Hobbs doesn't have to get on the very top to reach the ring. I wonder how many people who have a problem with refs holding the ladder have been up high on a ladder when nobody's holding it. That shit's scary, you're putting a lot of faith in that metal to not fall over.

I think that moment would have made a good painting.

Holding a wobbly ladder's pretty acceptably within their purview, I'd think.

If they really wanted to help him win it, they should have just used the mechanism to lower the golden donut right to him.

We really bitching about refs holding ladders now? Seriously? It’s almost like after years of ladder matches people forgot about proper ladder safety!

This is definitely one of those "AEW haters will criticise them for literally anything" things, because WWE and Indy refs hold the ladder all the time

Christ, AEW's production sucks.
IS QT still in charge of that? I thought they hired some big shot to make things better?

Sheesh if it's that much of an issue just have the Ref in question post a kayfabe tweet to the effect of: "Yeah I know I am supposed to unbiased, but Powerhouse Hobbs threatened to tear me in two if I didn't help him. So what was I to do?"
I mean realistically speaking if someone who looks like Powerhouse asked you to do something like spot him while he tries to grab the giant Sonic ring, most would do gleefully do it without a second thought.

It was pretty darn silly, production error, yes? Enjoying the aggressive responses to a fairly jokey subject though.

Using this thread as proof that half the regular posters in the AEW section have become absolutely addled and can't take a 5/10 mild smirk-inducing joke thread at face value without making sweeping points about the legions of villains (none on this forum though, when we generalize we mean Other Websites!) consistently seeking to undermine and betray the revolution

If he was, his finisher could be called the P-P-P-P-POWERCOUNT and he'd be the first and only dual referee and competitor.

I really wouldn't have hated Powerhouse yelling at the ref to hold it, but that would have taken some world class improv instincts Or just getting another ladder I really didn't give it a second thought though, they saw that ladder was f***ed and kept Hobbs from dying so I'm good.

I mean, he did kind of tell him to hold it in a mean way? I don't think it's the end of the world and the original intent of this post was probably to make jokes like we usually do here on FAN and I'm sad this hasn't gone that route so far. Quick, somebody photoshop Powerhouse Hobbs in black and white striped gear.
